This atmosphere is reflected all around you, whether it's winding paths shaded by greenery, magnificent lakeshore views, or the décor of your own luxury villa on Lake Como. You'll spend the leisurely hours of your vacation exploring the village, listening to a companion's fingers dance across the grand piano in the music room, or enjoying an evening swim in the sparkling blue swimming pool of this Lake Como villa.

Location Description

Located less than 5 km from the charming city of Como and a one hour drive from Milan, Villa Gioia is a stunning neoclassical home. Situated in the lakeshore village of Blevio, the villa rises directly out of the lake and faces the renowned Grand Hotel Villa d'Este, which lies on the opposite shore. The nearby Como Aeroclub (5 km) offers a seaplane taxi service, including alpine tours and commuter service to Venice and Capri. The villa is located a quarter mile down a gated road. Lugano, Varese, and Bergamo are within easy reach by car.

Exterior Description

There are two entirely independent luxury villas (Villa Gioia and Villa Serena), both neoclassical in style, that are separated by a small, picturesque harbor flanked by terracotta statues. In the early 19th century both villas were restored by a celebrated dancer, who also owned the prestigious Ca' d'Oro palace on the Canal Grande in Venice. Like her contemporaries, Bellini, Rossini, Franz Lizst, Ricordi, and Giuditta Pasta, the dancer was drawn to the artistic community of Blevio. There are terraces overlooking the lake equipped for al fresco dining, a beautiful swimming pool, an underground parking garage, and a boat dock (boat rentals and water taxis are available). Both the garage and the dock have direct access to the villas. There is a quaint gate house at the entrance. Seven acres of lush gardens and woods surround the villas. There are a number of historic villas and gardens in the area, including Villa Carlotta, Balbianello, and Villa Melzi.

Interior Description

Three levels with elevator and stair access to each floor. The villa is luxuriously furnished with the finest Italian linens, antiques from the owner's personal collection, and state-of-the-art modern amenities.

Courtyard Level: The formal entrance hall leads to the music room which has a Steinway grand piano, seating areas for up to 8 people, and three arched glass doors leading to the stone balcony which runs the length of the house. The formal drawing room has a working fireplace, two sitting areas for up to 12 people, and a door to the balcony. The formal dining room has a working fireplace and comfortably accommodates up to 14 people. The kitchen has a gas/electric stove, large oven, convection/microwave oven, Amana refrigerator, separate freezer, small fridge for beverages, double sinks, two dishwashers, and glass doors opens to the dining terrace. There is a guest bathroom with shower stall.

First Floor: There is a lovely central dining room on the lake side with a fireplace and wonderful views over the lake. There is a sitting room with satellite TV, DVD and CD player, and comfortable seating for six. There is a double bedroom with king-size bed and ensuite bathroom with tub with hand-held shower, open shower stall and hair dryer. The second double bedroom has a king-size bed, walk-in closet, and ensuite bathroom with tub with hand-held shower (no curtain) and hair dryer. The third double bedroom has a king-size bed and private bathroom with tub with hand-held shower (no curtain) and hair dryer. There is a laundry room for staff use only.

Second Floor: The central hall opens directly to the sitting room with TV, CD player, and comfortable seating for six people. The kitchen/dining area has an electric stove, oven, sink, dishwasher, and small fridge. There is a walk-in closet with washing machine and dryer. There are two double bedrooms (two twin beds which can be combined), each with an ensuite bathroom with tub with hand-held shower and hairdryer. The third double bedroom has low twin beds which cannot combine and an ensuite bathroom with shower stall and hair dryer. The last bedroom has a small double bed (comfortable for one person, cozy for two) with ensuite bathroom with shower stall and hairdryer.

• Housekeeping is provided for 4 hours per day, 6 days per week. Additional Housekeeping can be arranged for an additional fee.
