- About The Experience
-
Offering only the most gorgeous views of the Mediterranean Sea, this Santorini villa is set in a quiet location that is still within walking distance to a charming town. A family or two couples will be able to gaze out to Caldera, relax in the private jacuzzi, or wander into the popular town on Fira for some fun.
- Location Description
-
Situated within the peaceful village of Imerovigli, this villa provides the perfect base from which to explore Santorini's main attractions. One of Greece's most popular islands, Santorini has a fascinating geological history, as it is of volcanic origin. Throughout recorded history, parts of the island have dropped into the sea, while new islands have suddenly appeared off the coast! The island forms a crescent around the Caldera, or cauldron-- the collapsed center of the volcano. It is an enviable view! The village of Imerovigli is actually a quieter extension of Fira, situated higher on the cliff. Fira and Imerovigli are famous for their blue-domed churches and slope houses, located right on the edge of 260 meter high cliffs that drop straight into the sea! Fira is the capital of the island, host to the Archaeological Museum. Its main streets are filled with shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. That's right... Santorini is also famous for its thriving nightlife! Your choices for activities are almost endless... you can relax on red and black sand beaches, take a boat around the islands, hike around the cliffs, go shopping, or even take a ferry to other islands in the area.

This smooth-edged restored Canava (cave house) has a stylish Mediterranean feel and is classified as a traditional Santorini "yposkafa" dwelling. There is a hot tub on the terrace.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
We loved Santorini. The villa met many of our expectations and the location and view were terrific.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the view are simply stunning. Combined with the splendour of Santorini, the rugged ambiance of the location and the island delivered our best moments.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen is very small and not appropriate for cooking gourmet meals. It only contains a cooktop, so you are limited to what you can prepare. No microwave or oven, and no grill. The fridge is very small and there is little storage space for food. It is adequate for breakfast or a light lunch, but if you want to really cook great dinners it will be a challenge. We found ourselves dining out more often than planned. Good news is that there are lots of restaurants nearby.
Surrounding Area:
Location was tremendous. The views are stunning and there are lots of terrific restaurants to enjoy. This was very handy as we found the need to eat out more than we had originally planned.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Imerovigli surrounds the property and everything is easy walking distance. Fira is easy to get to as well and we did it almost every day.
Tips or Restaurants:
We would highly recommend upgrading the manual car to an automatic. We drove everywhere and it is all uphill! You will likely be as glad as we were that we got an automatic car (It was about $10 per day to upgrade). Bring starter staples for the kitchen and an iPod to play your music, although they did have a little one there for use which was very thoughtful.
Directions:
We were picked up at the airport and that was invaluable as it would have been hard to find on our own.

Overall:
Overall, we were happy with the villa. Service was quick and cordial and anything that needed repairing was dealt with same day with no extra effort on our part. We loved the privacy on the decks and the jacuzzi even though other villas were in immediate proximity. Amazingly quiet in spite of villas around us. Very good daily maid service.
Enjoyed Most:
Seclusion and incredible view of caldera, Mirostefani and Fira.
Enjoyed Least:
Walls inside and outside could have used a coat of fresh paint. We experienced electrical shorts in the kitchen.
Surrounding Area:
Views, proximity of restaurants, shopping and cafés.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Mirostefani and Fira both within 15 minutes walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Do not trust Trip Advisor for restaurants. Salt and Pepper was highly rated by 5 different people. The location and food were really terrible. Some of those testimonials had to be bogus. The villa has WIFI. Even though a car is provided, you are better off getting around on an ATV. Stay away from motorcycles unless you are an experienced rider... you need nerves of steel to negotiate the roads and other drivers.

We were picked up at the airport.
Check In Out:
People were helpful carrying bags up and down steep walkways and were right on time.
