Standing atop the Fiesole hillside, this two-bedroom apartment is located in a villa surrounded by 2.3 acres of gardens with a shared swimming pool and grounds. The terrace offers panoramic views of Florence, which is a short distance away. This is a wonderful place for those who wish to experience the wonders of the city while still enjoying a quiet and serene escape.

Location Description

The apartment is located in a quiet area in the environs of Fiesole, which is in the hills immediately behind Florence. The apartment is 600 meters away downhill from the town square of Fiesole. Because of the narrow road (Via Vecchia Fiesolana, one-way, with no sidewalks) up to the town from the villa, it is probably best to drive downhill to San Domenico (750 meters away), a tiny place with a bar and trattoria and a convenient bus stop, to park and take the bus up to Fiesole or downhill to Florence. In San Domenico there is paid (1.5 Euros per hour during the day until 8:00pm; free at night) and free street parking. There is also paid parking in Fiesole (2 Euros per hr.), but it is much more congested than San Domenico. The surrounding woods and hills have many walking and hiking trails, and Fiesole itself is home to ruins and monuments that date back to its past as an Etruscan town and flourishing Roman colony. Sights include the Church of Badia Fiesolana, Convent of San Francesco, Cathedral of Fiesole, an archaeological area with remnants of an ancient Roman theater and Roman baths, and the Bandini Museum, which displays terracotta pieces by Della Robbia and Florentine art from the 12th to 14th centuries. There are also wonderful bars, restaurants, and shops around the main piazza of Fiesole. The many cultural riches of Florence are a short bus ride away, and day trip locations include San Gimignano, Siena and Pisa. A car is necessary.

Exterior Description

The apartment is nestled in the Fiesole hillside, in a restored 1957 villa with other apartments. The shared grounds contain 2.3 acres of gardens filled with trees, plants, flowers and birds, which treat guests to birdsong in the mornings. The shared swimming pool (open 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM) is surrounded by statues, grass and trees. The apartment is 220 yards from the parking area in the garden. Each apartment has its own private part of the garden and terrace, which overlooks Florence. The terrace is furnished with a barbecue, dining table for six as well as a sofa and armchairs shaded by a large umbrella.

Ground Floor: The apartment opens onto the open living, dining and kitchen area. The living room features two sofas, flat-screen TV, DVD player, CD player, fine paintings and doors to the terrace with views of Florence. The kitchen is equipped with a four-burner stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, electric tea kettle, American and Italian coffee makers and a dining table for four. There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed (160 cm), and the second bedroom has a queen-size bed (160 cm, may be separated into two narrow single beds upon prior request). The central bathroom features a Jacuzzi bathtub (170cm x 70cm) with handheld shower, sink, toilet and washing machine.

• Due to the many antiquities in the apartment and the very quiet location which must be respected, this rental is not suitable for students or young people. Guests are asked to refrain from playing loud music and creating excessive noise.
