Customer Reviews
Overall:
We had a great time at this villa. Luigi, the key holder, and the gardener were friendly and very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The house was spacious and worked well for our group of six. We fixed breakfasts and dinners throughout the week. The exterior area featured a beautiful patio and swimming pool area. There was a table with a canopy and there was also a masonry BBQ and a gas grill. The photos on the RentVillas web site do not do justice to the place. The pool is actually in-ground, not above ground. Maybe the original pool has been replaced.
Surrounding Area:
We were visiting Sicily for the first time. This villa was near several places we wanted to visit, including Siracusa, Taormina, Mount Etna, and the Valley of the Temples.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Brucoli is a small fishing village that does not have much to offer. Actually, nothing is in walking distance. The villa is in a beautiful, secluded orchard.
Tips or Restaurants:
Good news! The key holder's son had recently installed WiFi, for which we gladly paid 30 Euros to use for the week. Bad news: there was no clothes dryer. We made do by using the two clothes drying racks that were there. There is a good supermarket in the nearby town of Augusta, about a 20-minute drive from the villa. It is called Superstore Deco.
Directions:
The GPS coordinates that were given to us did not lead us to the property. We got to the vicinity and were then led to the property by the key holder. It would be very helpful to arrive before dark.
Check In Out:
The check in was handled in a very friendly and efficient manner by the key holder. When we checked out, we paid the cleaning fee and the WiFi fee to the gardener.

Overall:
My two sisters and I had a wonderful experience at this beautiful villa. Luigi, the keyholder, was very kind and helpful and his English was very good, and the gardener was also very helpful. Even though his English was limited, he was friendly and helped us learn to use the washing machine and the dishwasher.
Enjoyed Most:
This large, spacious two floor villa was very clean, comfortable, and homey. The beds were very comfortable. The outdoor living areas were beautiful, with lovely flowers. A great place to relax in the sun or shade. This villa is in an excellent, central location to tour the entire eastern coast of Sicily. We took day trips to Taormina, Castelmola, Mt. Etna, Siracusa, Noto, Catania, Portopalo di Capo Passero, and Brucoli.
Enjoyed Least:
The lack of WiFi was our only drawback.
Surrounding Area:
This villa is located in the middle of many, many acres or orchards. There were trees of all varieties: lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, pomegranate, black walnut, almond, and more. There were beautiful flowers, and scenic rocky hills in the distance. We were just five minutes from a private beach that we were able to use.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Brucoli, a small fishing village, was the closest small town. It was a lovely, little fishing village, with a good market and a few good restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
Future renters may want to get an international data plan for their cell phone for the days they will be at this villa as it is difficult to get WiFi on the island of Sicily. The restaurant Al Castello has a wonderful porch with a fabulous view of the sea and the fishing boats, but the food is just OK. The food at Michelangelo's was excellent! We ate there three nights during our week at the villa.
Directions:
We had a difficult time distinguishing between and finding the state route and the autostrada, so the directions were difficult for us. Luigi, the key holder, was more than willing to meet us anywhere and lead us to the villa. After the first time, it was very easy to get there.
Check In Out:
Luigi, the keyholder, was charming! He was very accessible by cell phone, spoke very good English, and was very helpful. Check in and check out was very quick and simple.

Enjoyed Most:
The overall set up was superb: layout, pool, Ping Pong, etc.
The owner and caretaker were pleasant and very attentive. A car was a necessity and nothing is within walking distance.
Enjoyed Least:
There were barking dogs at night.
Surrounding Area:
Close to many big sites and accessible to the whole island, really.
Local eateries are fine, markets in Brucoli, as well.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Brucoli, not really a walk. Nice walks up to the ridge and down the other side to the sea, though.
Tips or Restaurants:
The directions could be better.
Directions:
We had no GPS. Once we got used to things, getting around was fine.
