Customer Reviews

Overall:
We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again.
Enjoyed Most:
The peacefulness and the beauty of the view and surroundings. The staff was very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed in the master bedroom and the tub shower.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty and location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montefiridolfi. No.
Tips or Restaurants:
The on sight restaurant was good. You get tired of the menu if you eat there many times. We enjoyed the food in Greve and other small towns.
Directions:
Make sure you get there before dark. A GPS is essential.
Check In Out:
No. It went very smoothly. The staff was always very helpful.

Virginia, October

Overall:
Wonderful. The young women at reception were most helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
Peaceful rural setting.
Enjoyed Least:
At first, it was hard to find.
Surrounding Area:
Perfect Tuscan hill country backdrop.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montefiridolfi is the nearest town and it was not within walking distance. We had a car so getting around was not a problem.
Tips or Restaurants:
We took warm clothes but the temp was in the 80s everyday and not a cloud in the sky. Perfect and lucky I think. There are restaurants in the area and the restaurant at reception was very good. Be prepared--food is not cheap in Tuscany. Wine on the other hand is quite reasonable and very good, both red and white.
Directions:
Once you get used to the road signs it's not a big problem. Relying on local maps can be confusing. Directions to the property need to include Fonte dei Medici because that's where you check in.

Leon, October

Overall:
Enjoyed the stay.
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet and the view.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montefiridolfi. It would be more of a short hike than a walk. Probably about 3.5km.
Tips or Restaurants:
On site restaurant is excellent.

Warren, April

Overall:
The overall experience was great. The villa was so comfortable, and much bigger than we had anticipated. The location in between Florence and Siena and close to all the hill towns was ideal. Staff there went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable.
Enjoyed Most:
It was clean, spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable, and in the most amazingly beautiful setting.
Enjoyed Least:
There wasn't anything not to like
Surrounding Area:
The views, the driving, the hill towns, the wineries, the history, the food!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Mercatale was a tiny town that was close we could have possibly walked. The town of Greve is bigger and too far to walk but was really nice with lots of restaurants, shops, wine shops, and character.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans, but if one is planning on cooking, they should be aware that some basics like soap, sponges, dishtowels, etc. are not there. But there are so many good restaurants and markets nearby...

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was wonderful and way more than we expected. The pictures on the website don't even come close to capturing how beautiful the area truly is and how much the apartment blends farmhouse charm and authenticity with modern comfort. This villa is a great recommendation. Our entire two-week trip went without one negative incident except for a metro strike in Roma that left us stranded at the Vatican. You may use our experience as one that was completely positive.

Chris, June

Overall:
Very clean and detailed in a wonderful location and not far from Florence...40 minute drive.
Enjoyed Most:
It's location on top of a vineyard away from the busy cities.
Enjoyed Least:
Too many units, but worth it still.
Surrounding Area:
It was very quiet, short driving distance to small towns, and in the heart of the famous Chianti region in Tuscany.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Small, ancient towns with great restaurants and friendly local people.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring citranella!

John, August

Overall:
The property was great. We were well satisfied.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was beautiful and the people were very nice.
Enjoyed Least:
There was a little dust in getting to the unit, but that is wine country everywhere!
Surrounding Area:
So many vineyards to enjoy!

Ivo, June

Overall:
The pictures did not do the facility justice. The accomodations were spacious, clean, and very quiet.
Enjoyed Most:
The staff and their willingness to assist you for whatever reason.
Enjoyed Least:
This is a property that is rented by the week. The kitchen should be equipted with a coffee pot, dish towels, and other items that are used in theh normal course of events during a weekly rental - including a coffee pot.
Surrounding Area:
The pastoral hills, back roads (both paved and dirt), the small villages with friendly people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We drove all over the place. The grocery owner in Montefiridolfi sang opera when we left the store. The Monastary near the ristorante La Cantinetta di Rignana is beautiful - driven to from all directions.
Tips or Restaurants:
Trattoria del Pesco was our favorite. The zuppa was the first I ever had that you ate with a fork - all clams, mussels, and other things. The remaing broth was wonderful for soaking with bread.

Overall:
The location was fabulous. 270 degree views of vineyards and the valley below. We felt that this Canaiolo unit has the best outdoor arrangement of all the units. End of June 2001, the weather was very hot, no trace of mosquitoes.
Enjoyed Most:
The views/surroundings, the enormous rooms, the wonderful service, and the location-- we were centrally located in Yuscany. A short drive from numerous medieval hilltowns and wineries.
Enjoyed Least:
Given the hot weather, next time we would consider finding a unit with a swimming pool. However, the neighboring property (owned by the same owner) is building a pool and this will be open next year (2002).
Surrounding Area:
Views-views-views!! The towns of Greve, San Gimignano, Chianti, Florence, San Casciano were nearby. We especially enjoyed the wine tour of Antinori estate and Montepulciano. There is a fabulous restaurant in San Casciano -- Pomodoro (near clock tower). Reservations are needed on the weekend. In Greve, there is a restaurant called La Cantina -- casual, good pizza/pasta with outdoor seating.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve, San Gimignano, Chianti, Florence, San Caschiano, Wine tour of Antinori, Montepuciano, etc. etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Fabulous restaurant in San Caschiano -- Pomodoro (near clock tower). Reservations needed on the weekend. In Greve -- casual, good pizza/pasta with outdoor seating: La Cantina
