Located in the stunning countryside of the Corbières region of Languedoc, the property is 15 kilometers from the beautiful village of Lagrasse. Lagrasse is probably most famous for its abbey, St. Marie d’Orbieu, which you’ll have to visit given the history of this villa rental itself, but the scenery is simply breathtaking. From the abbey, you can cross the River Orbieu to the center of town and see all the surrounding vineyards, valleys, and mountains. You’ll reach plenty are cobbled streets hosting craft fairs, produce markets, shops, and cafes perfect for al fresco dining. A place you will have to see in person in order to truly feel how enchanting it is is Carcassonne, only a 20-minute drive from the property. This fortified village will allow you to take a step back in time as you walk along the narrow cobblestone alleys, stop in a chocolatier or candy store, and drink a café au lait in, what would appear to be, a place where one would go should they want to converse in secret. You must remember to visit the Basilica of Saint Nazaire, a cathedral from the 11th century often referred to as the “Jewel of the City,” and the Museum of the Middle Ages. The closest beaches are in Narbonne, a small town along the coast full of good pizzerias and dessert shops. For day trips definitely worth a little bit of a drive, visit Perpignan or Toulouse.
