Customer Reviews
Overall:
We had a wonderful experience. The property was clean and tidy and there was a very welcoming basket of essentials waiting for us. The house was exactly as we expected given the pictures on RentVillas.com and the information available there.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was wonderful. Situated in the middle of pasture land on a hill. Very quiet and peaceful.
Enjoyed Least:
There really is no true clothes dryer. The washing machine says that it drys, but it really doesn't. It steams the clothing. We would have liked to have Internet access.
Surrounding Area:
Meandering the property and also walking around on the small side roads. This property was also very close to several towns for shopping and many castles and ruins.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was not really walkable (Crocketford), and it had only a small convenience store. We shopped in Castle Howard and that was only a 15-minute drive. Very nice town with a great small shopping district.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Blackwater Cafe in Castle Howard was very good and they had free WiFi!
Directions:
We just followed the written directions. They were very good.

Overall:
We had a wonderful time. The house is very convenient to Dumfries, where we visited family members. Norbert House is rural, so it is quiet and private.
Enjoyed Most:
The peaceful, quiet location.
Enjoyed Least:
The stove was not reliable.
Surrounding Area:
Dumfries and Galloway region is beautiful. We visited Drumlanrig Castle, took a day trip to the English Lake District and also to the Falkirk Wheel.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Crocketford is the nearest small town, about 4 miles from Norbert House.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Galloway Arms Hotel in Crocketford does a great pub lunch and also has a very good dinner menu at reasonable prices.

Overall:
This would be a wonderful rental at Christmas time--wood fireplaces and pastoral beauty.
Enjoyed Most:
The magnificent view over the Galloway countryside was beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathrooms need a little updating, particulary a good shower in the master bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
The peace and tranquility of the property was wonderful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Crocketford was the nearest town--about 2.5 miles. Dumfries or Castle Douglas were the nearest big towns, but neither was in walking distance.
Check In Out:
The caretaker is very flexible relative to arrival time.
