- Location Description
- This beautiful Provence villa is located in the Alpes-Cote-d’Azur region of Provence at the foot of La Montagnette near the medieval village of Boulbon. Because of this, you are in a perfect paradise for walking, hiking, mushroom gathering, hunting and enjoying the fertile farmlands of Provence. The Provencal village of Boulbon is a charming example of a virtually untouched medieval village with its quaint town square, peaceful little shops and flower-bedecked windows. There are markets to explore and local treats to sample. On the evening of June 1st, Boulbon has a very unique event --- the Bottle Procession which happens at St. Marcellin Chapel. The nearby village of Boulbon is easy to spot no mater what route you take. The villages’ church tower is visible from all directions and dominates the countryside and its surroundings. Here you will find several excellent restaurants, museums and outdoor activities of hiking, horse-riding and mountain biking. Further away is Avignon, a city ringed by a medieval wall, inside of which you will find narrow, winding streets and ancient buildings filled with shops and restaurants. Avignon is easy to get in and out of by train, is a wonderful city to visit and noteworthy sites include the Palace of the Popes, the Musee Carnavalet, and Notre Dame des Doms cathedral.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
it was terrific--once we found the place. Abdou, the caretaker, couldn't have been nicer. It was necessary to speak French, which several of us did, and he was very helpful. Twice he brought us a dessert tarte he had made himself. He also went with us the first night to find some food, because it was late before most people arrived. And the property itself is breathtaking.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds were magnificent, and very well cared-for. The kitchen had everything we needed, since we cooked each night for 11. The house itself was very luxurious and comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
The signage is missing, so it was hard to find.
Surrounding Area:
The local French villages were wonderful for the fresh produce and for the history. St. Remy, Les Baux and Avignon seemed to be the favourites.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Boulbon was the nearest small town, and it was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We all had a very good and cheap meal at the St. Jean restaurant in Tarascon we mainly did our own cooking at night and found even the local grocery stores had everything delicious and fresh that we needed. Wine was unbelievably cheap - bring a good corkscrew, since the one in the villa was so-so probably because people would tend to go off with it.
