- About The Experience
This apartment is situated in a lively area between the Marais and the Bastille. It has a private balcony, large windows, wireless internet connection, and is perfect for a couple with children looking for a cozy place while they explore Paris.
- Location Description
This apartment is located on the border between the Marais and the Bastille, which is a very lively area. The Marais is characterized by the impressive mansions (or Hotels Particuliers) of the 17th and early 18th century. The surrounding Marais is not just an historic quarter, it is also filled with trendy boutiques and cafes, as well as the kosher shops in the Jewish neighborhood around the Rue des Rosiers. Rue Saint Martin is also full of stores and galleries. Nearby attractions include the Hotel de Ville, Place des Vosges, the Georges Pompidou Centre, the Stravinsky Fountain, Musee Carnavalet, Musee Picasso, Victor Hugo's house, Notre Dame, and the Louvre. The Bastille area is a "happening" place to sit in bars and people watch. The nearest metro stops are Bastille and Saint Paul.
Nearby Attractions: The city of Paris! Explore Paris on foot to find the hidden treasures of the city of light. Unknown too many are the Beehives of the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg – hit the beehives at the right time in the fall and you’ll be able to purchase the honey. The popular cocktail bar, Les Etages, has two “branches”, one located in the Marais; the other in St Germain. The covered market, Marche St.-Quentin, dates back to 1860, and has 30 plus stalls of mouth- watering cheese, baked goods, meats and more. La Perlerie is a tiny store offering bronze and silver bracelet and necklace charms and you can assemble your jewelry right in the store. For some of the best steak frites of Paris, stop by Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, known simply as l’Entrecôte, but expect a wait of at least a half-hour.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
Enjoyed this property two years in a row. Love the Bastille area.
Enjoyed Most:
Close proximity to market, grocery store, cafes, and metro.
Enjoyed Least:
Smokers taking break at nearby restaurant (Bofinger's) sitting on stoop under window of property. Bombarded with cigarette smoke several times a day.
Surrounding Area:
Right across the street from Bastille monument. Thursday and Sunday markets. Lot of activity and celebrations such as Gay Pride and Music fest. Frequenting local cafes. Not too touristy. Loved the local flavor.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring electrical converters. Learn how to use the washer/dryer combination in apartment or find close by laundromat. Good Pakistani restaurant we frequented on Rue de la Roquette - Restaurant Taj.
Check In Out:
Excellent greeting. Thorough review of property. Very pleased.
Joseph, July
Overall:
My wife and I loved the apartment. I really like the location, which is in the Bastille area.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is very roomy and well-kept.
Enjoyed Least:
The delivery trucks in the morning bringing supplies to the restaurants below.
Surrounding Area:
The Bastille area is one of the most exciting districts in the city of Paris. We loved the cafes, the opera, the market, and many convenient stores in the area.
Tips or Restaurants:
We don't know whether the weather was unusual in the summer of 2012, but bring some clothes for cool weather and some rain gear.
Directions:
We had no problems locating the property.
Check In Out:
The representative was there as scheduled to check us in. The representative who checked us in was very good and a great help.
