About The Experience

Two families or groups of friends can be friendly neighbors while traveling through Tuscany together. These two villas in the center of Monterchi each come with a private swimming pool and terrace and are surrounded by medieval castle walls that date back to the 16th century. Shops and restaurants are steps away while Arezzo, Cortona, and Florence are within day trip distance.

Location Description

This property is ideally located in the center of Monterchi, a medieval town that was dedicated to Hercules during the Roman times. Dating back to the year 1095, Monterchi has shops, restaurants, markets, a bank, post office, and several interesting churches. Perhaps the town is most famous for Piero della Francesca’s extraordinary fresco, the Madonna del Parto, painted in 1459 and now displayed in a primary school, also considered a museum. During the summer months, the museum hosts open-air concerts of classical music every Wednesday night on the gardens. A Polenta Festival is held every September where visitors can taste local recipes and learn about local traditions. Arezzo, the charming town used as the backdrop for Roberto Benigni's "Life is Beautiful," is about a half an hour drive away. Once one of the most important Etruscan cities, today Arezzo is beautiful for an array of architecture spanning centuries, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheatre and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month brings a popular antique fair, while annually there is a festival called "Joust of the Saracens," where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire and knights representing each part of the city charge at a target representing a Saracen king. The area is also well situated for day trips throughout Tuscany to places such as Cortona, Perugia, and Florence.

This property is comprised of two neighboring villas that share a garden surrounded by the ancient medieval walls of Monterchi. The garden has oak trees, fruits trees, plants, roses, and other colorful flowers. Each villa has a private swimming pool. Villa Francesca’s (8m x 4m) is surrounded by a sun deck with sun loungers and Casa del Villagio’s (6.5m x 3.5m) is as well. Each also has a terrace with a barbecue and a table with chairs. Parking is available within the property grounds.

Interior Description

Villa Francesca
Ground floor: After entering from the village piazza, you will reach a sitting area with a couch and several chairs. There are two bedrooms on this floor. The first bedroom has two 85 cm single beds (which can be connected) and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. The second bedroom has a 180 cm king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. There is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer next to the entrance.
First floor: A staircase of 12 steps leads up to this floor where you will first reach two living rooms. The first living room is smaller but has a couch, piano, and satellite TV. The second living room has a fireplace and a dining area with a table and chairs. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, toaster, and dishwasher. There are three bedrooms on this floor. The first bedroom has a 180 cm king-sized bed with an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. The second bedroom has two 85 cm single beds (which can be connected) and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. The third bathroom has two 85 cm single beds. There is a third bathroom with a sink, toilet, shower and tub.

Casa del Villaggio

Ground floor: The entrance to this villa is from the garden. There is a combined living and dining room with couches, armchairs, a fireplace, and a table with chairs. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, toaster, and dishwasher. There are three bedrooms. The first bedroom has a 180 cm king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. The second bedroom has a 180 cm king-sized bed and the third bedroom has two 85 cm single beds. There is a second bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower.
