- About The Experience
- France isn’t known for its windmills, but at this charming villa in the Provencal town of Goult, you’ll be able to walk to the hillside town’s medieval windmill and watch as the breeze flows through it. The villa itself has equally pleasant features, like a comfortable, fully-covered terrace with indoor furnishings to let you enjoy the lovely Provencal weather while keeping you out of the elements. There’s a private fenced pool surrounded by a patio, and a barbeque and outdoor dining area for al fresco meals. And this villa is extremely well located for visiting the sights of Provence.
- Location Description
- This villa is located at the edge of the town of Goult, a scenic and less-visited village in Provence. Set on a hillside surrounded by lavender and vineyards, Goult’s winding streets and a charming old windmill make it a pleasant place to meander, dine, and shop. Lovers of French cuisine might want to try a meal at Café de la Poste, La Bartavelle, or Le Carillon. Eight km is Gordes, a hilltop village that was a stronghold of resistance during WWII, is today one of the most popular villages in Provence. It has a wonderful castle, arcaded streets, museums, and musical concerts, as well as amenities and restaurants. There’s a Romanesque church, St Sebastien, in the village’s main square that regularly hosts classical concerts, and every year starting August 15th, writers and craftsmen gather for a festival with shows and demonstrations. South of the village you can visit the Village des Bories, a curious collection of Neolithic stone huts. Don't miss the Abbey of Senanque, a 12th century monastery where monks still live. Also nearby are Rousillon, a hill town with ochre colored cliffs, and Apt, a town famous for its crystallized fruit. Be sure to make the day trip to Avignon, one of the most popular cities in the region.
