This Amalfi Coast villa is located just downhill from Ravello, about a 10 minute walk on steps. (Prepare to get some exercise!) High above the Amalfi Coast, this elegant and aristocratic town sits on a 350 foot rocky spur. Offering magnificent palazzos, churches, and gardens bearing witness to its noble history, Ravello’s rich cultural life complements an unmatched, striking beauty. In town you'll find a bus stop and taxi stand, ATM, post office, bank, pharmacy, and food shops. You can relax to the sounds of a classical music concert or go sightseeing at the old estate gardens, Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. One of the most important monuments is the Cathedral, founded in 1086, but there is also the church of San Giovanni del Toro, the churches of Santa Maria a Gradillo and Santissima Annunziata, Villa Episcopio, and the Piazza Fontana Moresca. Catch the train in Salerno, or take the bus to one of the fabulous beaches, only 20 minutes away. Take the bus down the hill to Amalfi, where you can rent a boat to explore the coastline, or allow someone else to steer the boats and hydrofoils, as you travel between Positano, Sorrento, Capri, and Salerno. Blue SITA busses cost about 1-2 euros, depending on destination. Stops are marked with a blue and white SITA sign. Driving times are: Ravello to Amalfi, 15 minutes; Amalfi to Positano, 30 minutes; Positano to Sorrento, 35 minutes.

Overall:
The Amalfi coast is breath taking and picturesque. The people so friendly, food delicious and the wine is wonderful. The property is wonderful, try to stay there long enough to enjoy the views.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were spectacular.
Unpleasant Surprises:
In one of the bedrooms, if you weighted more than 100 pounds and sat on the bed, the bed would fall through. Also, the kitchen was not set up with enough pots and pans.
Surrounding Area:
The people, the square, the food
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked to Amalfi and back. That was a fabulous experience.
Tips or Restaurants:
Spend more time at the villa enjoying the views, walk to the town square. Unfortunately, if you want to stay at the villa one night and cook a meal, there are not enough pots and pans.
Directions:
There are two entrances to the villa. After you make your second hair pin turn, look closely on your left, the numbers are on the wall and can be easily missed.

Enjoyed Most:
The property was very large, so the 6 of us never felt crowded. The view from almost all rooms was outstanding!
Unpleasant Surprises:
Our biggest problem was that there was no hot water 2 of the 7 days. Also , the kitchen was a little small. The folks using the bathroom without a shower curtain thought it should have one to keep things from getting wet.
Surrounding Area:
We were able to visit many attractions such as Pompeii, Erculano, Paestum and Vesuvius. We also went on 2 great hikes, one of them being The Path of the Gods which was fantastic.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello was only about 10-15 minutes away up many steps. We got lots of good exercise.
Tips or Restaurants:
We spent too much time sightseeing and should have spent more time just relaxing at the villa and enjoying the wonderful view.

Overall:
All around a joy. Helpful owner. I would go back anytime. Visit Naples, insane if by automobile, but a 'real' city, just a 90-minute dirve away. Capri is a gem and not to be missed. But make sure you keep some down time to enjoy the villa's main terrace.
Enjoyed Most:
The view is simply breathtaking.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Kitchen is somewhat small. Hot water could suffice for 4 or 5 but at 7 people, there was, from time to time, a short waiting period.
Surrounding Area:
Piazza at Ravello is great. Shops a plenty. Good food - Victoria restaurant is great!. A weekly market, not a tourist thing but for the locals, is a grand experience.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Close to Amalfi and Minori but you have to be in good shape 'cause Ravello is a town built on a cliff... other closeby towns are lower so you have to use the many ancient rock stairs. Amalfi is truly enjoyable... great Church, everyone should visit.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you're iffy about driving, the Amalfi coast will be pure horror. A car is useful but the local bus service is reliable. Try Victoria restaurant, close to the Ruffolo gardens, great food.
