Customer Reviews

Overall:
The villa was wonderful. It was quiet and the view was beautiful. It was spacious and very clean. Proximity to Fireze was great. We would come and stay here again.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool with its view and the proximity to Firenze.
Enjoyed Least:
There were a lot of ants. They invaded the kitchen first and then the bathrooms and even the bedrooms.
Surrounding Area:
Firenze and San Gimignano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Barberino; it's not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
House was very well equipped. Wilma was a great little restaurant down the street.

Overall:
Excellent. Our group was so excited when we all arrived. They could not believe how great our accommodation was. The view over the pool, the noise of hunters in the nearby forest, and the feeling of having the villa all to ourselves, made our overseas holiday one to remember for all time.
Enjoyed Most:
Basically everything. For me personally it was the joy that everyone in our group had and how they liked different aspects of the villa. There was not one disappointed person in our group of 14. My children swimming in the pool with a view of San Gimignano was special.
Enjoyed Least:
The time it took to do some clothes washing (slow washing machine) and there was not a lot of space to hang the washing out to dry. We worked around this though.
Surrounding Area:
We where close enough to Coops and the rail station in Certaldo where we could accommodate our groups' needs. A short drive by car. We found a cooking school that 5 of our group enjoyed in Certaldo Alto. Drives to Siena, Florence, the Chianti wine region and San Gimignano were done as day trips quiet comfortably.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The best towns that had good shopping Coops were Certaldo and Tavarnelle Val d'Elsa. An easy drive. A couple of our group walked up a steep hill to a small village - Petrognano - a long walk but great views.
Tips or Restaurants:
We booked and used the local cooks to cook at the villa on two nights. This was great as we could enjoy our meal as a group - and we did. We also had dinner at a local restaurant - Wilmas - which was within walking distance.
Directions:
Once in Certaldo we foud the villa quite easily. I used Google Earth prior to our trip and found our villa, which helped.
Check In Out:
All went well.

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience. Beautiful, restful, and a perfect location.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, and the house was fascinating.
Enjoyed Least:
There were lots of ants. Also, the WiFi didn't work for the vast majority of the time. Also, it was challenging to recieve information about operating so many appliances from someone who did not speak much English. It was difficult to figure how use the oven and washing machine. Editor's Note: The owners have said that 2011 was a particularly bad year for ants due to the heat. They prefer not to use chemicals to deter them; however, they can do so if necessary. It helps to keep the food in the refrigerator. As for the WiFi, there were problems due to a thunderstorm. It was fixed right away. Also, the WiFi works best in the upstairs sitting room, as well as at the outside table.
Surrounding Area:
We went to so many beautiful towns: Florence, Montereggione, Orvieto, Siena, Certaldo, and San Gimignano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Certaldo. No
Tips or Restaurants:
Plastic bags, etc. The book Living Like A Local was a godsend. We used it over and over. There was a restaurant in Orvieto called Tipica Trattoria Etrusca that was amazing and so enjoyable. Also, it was reasonable.
Directions:
It was very difficult to get to the property because many of the roads do not have names. It took us an extra hour and a half to find it. Many switchbacks, it was a tough drive.
Check In Out:
The check-in process seemed rushed. The check-out process was excellent.
