Location Description

Situated in the Provence countryside between the cities of Carpentras and Orange near Avignon, this private vacation villa offers many local activities and sightseeing opportunities. The surrounding countryside offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in France, with its rolling hills, vineyards and verdant orchards. Enjoy the fresh air as you explore the nearby market town of Sarrians or venture further into the medieval cities of Carpentras and Orange for sightseeing and shopping. Every Friday morning, Carpentras has a colorful market that brings people from all over the region. Orange is an amazing historic city known especially for its ancient Roman theatre, the only one in Europe which still retains its stage wall. It also has some impressive Roman arches and an old city with narrow streets and shady squares, perfect for an afternoon stroll. Orange is also noted for its variety of cultural events, particularly its annual international opera festival. Further away is Avignon, a city ringed by a medieval wall, inside of which you will find narrow, winding streets and ancient buildings filled with shops and restaurants. Avignon is easy to get in and out of by train, is a wonderful city to visit and noteworthy sites include the Palace of the Popes, the Musee Carnavalet, and Notre Dame des Doms cathedral. To Paris, it is 3 hours via non-stop TGV super express train or 50 minutes by air.

Exterior Description

This peaceful, private 18th century estate is located between Carpentras and Orange near Avignon. The enclosed estate comprises 17 acres and is surrounded by vineyards and orchards. Immaculately restored and offering full-service luxury accommodations for up to 32 guests, the estate includes the chateau, the farm building, conference and business centers, sports facilities, and grounds; maintenance and agricultural areas on the estate are not available for guests' use. The chateau's extensive formal gardens and parks include a stream, an obelisk, reflecting pools, a collection of wild geese and ducks from around the world, and a moat with Japanese carp. The chateau is furnished with beautiful antique furniture and art. However, the heating cooling, telecommunication, electrical, plumbing systems, kitchens, laundry rooms, and bathrooms are all very modern. The Chateau also includes a staff apartment for a couple: the concierge and the office manager. The fully modernized adjacent farm building features a dining room and seven bedrooms which overlook an inner courtyard with cloisters, lawn, flowers, and a fountain. The farm building also includes a staff apartment for the chef and his wife, the housekeeper, who have the overall responsibility for the estate. In addition to the chateau and farm building, there is a 20-person Conference Center with multimedia and video conferencing facilities, a business center, and an estate office. The estate's digital PBX system provides the chateau and farm building bedrooms with their own direct telephone numbers and voice mail; each bedroom has its own mobile phone for use throughout the estate. Each bedroom also has its own Internet port. The estate has automatic lighting and watering systems and the buildings have a sophisticated fire alarm system.

Interior Description

Chateau (850 m2 - sleeps 16):
Ground Floor: There are three reception/living rooms (50m2, 30m2, 26m2), a library (50m2) large formal dining room (35m2) for 16 people, and a large informal dining room/kitchen (70m2). There is also a staff suite. The internal courtyard with its fountains, aviaries, and jasmine-covered walls can also be used for al fresco dining. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and ensuite bathroom with tub and shower.
First Floor: There is a master bedroom with a queen-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with tub and shower.
Second Floor: There are six bedrooms, of which one has a king-size bed, two have queen-size beds, two have double beds, and one has twin-beds. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with tub and shower. All bathrooms are tiled with beautiful Provencal tiles.

The Staff includes: chef, butler, housekeeper, concierge, and other support staff.
