Overall:
Yes!!!!, Keep this property on the list as we will return to it on our next voyage to Italia.
Enjoyed Most:
Tutto va bene!!!!! Everything was fantastic! The open areas to dine outside and gather for any occasion were great. Walking through the vineyards and groves of olive trees...and the Vino!!!!!
Unpleasant Surprises:
Niente' Nothing bad to report
Surrounding Area:
Everything was easy to get to and the scenery from atop of the hill at the Villa was awesome. The road were well maintained, and access to the Autostrada was easy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town is Staggia. They have a Coop market there, so you can purchase groceries. There's another Coop in Poggibonsi which is 7 kilometers away and it's bigger and has a better produce ion. Poggibonsi is where you can catch the train to Florence, Siena, Pisa etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
The only suggestion we have is to give yourself a full day just to stay and soak up the beauty of the Villa and its surrounding grounds. Soak up the Tuscan sun by the pool.

Overall:
We loved it. Claudia checked us in and out. She was great. The pool is very clean and well kept. We had a mix of weather - from gorgeous sunshine to chilly and rainy. We really hope to go again next year. We loved Tuscany and especially this property.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was small but very well equiped and very clean. Claudia and her family were very nice and attentive. We received a new set of towels and new linens half way through the week which was a pleasant surprise. They also made us a nice fruit torte. The place is incredible with amazing views. Since we didn't have a living room, we made use of our private terrace area to relax in the evenings. The tennis court was very good.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing really. We can't wait to go there again, but we'll try to get a larger unit with a living room.
Surrounding Area:
Location! Only 35 minutes to Firenze and 20 minutes to Siena. Montalcino and Montepulciano are also less than an hour away. Also, if you like driving, you'll get to drive on some amazing twisty roads through the Chianti mountains.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is the smallest locality but you really need to got to Poggibonsi if you need a large COOP grocery store to buy food. Monteriggioni is a hidden small town up on a hill with an amazing restaurant - Il Ristorante Castello Piccolo. You need a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
It was a good idea to buy some food stuff prior to arriving on Saturday afternoon as everything is closed on Sunday unless you go to Poggibonsi in the early morning. The apartment was very well equipped. There is an American coffee maker and filters and a traditional espresso maker. So bring your coffee! Everything else was there.
If you like shopping, go to the Prada outlet and the DampG and Gucci outlets, all off the A1 southeast of Firenze.

Overall:
This vacation was memorable. I hope to be back next year. Once you go, you don't want to leave.
Enjoyed Most:
The peace and quiet was so relaxing. Just to sit on the patio at night with a glass of wine made the vacation wonderful. The caretakers Claudia, Rita and Franco were so nice. On arriving they gave us a bottle of wine from their vineyard and it was excellent. So were the other wines and the Vin Santo! On another day they knocked on the door with a homemade fruit torte. They couldn't have made us feel more welcomed. It was like we were family.
The kitchen was great to have so you could cook your dinner if you didn't feel like dining out. Each villa had their own private area to enjoy. So we had dinner outside a few nights. They also had a grill in case you wanted to barbeque.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Our apartment didn't have a screen on the windows. I noticed that the upstairs apartments had them. The bugs however weren't that bad when we were there.
Surrounding Area:
The area was so nice and the people were extremely friendly. San Gimignano was so close, as was Siena. Also, theChianti region is right there. If you get a chance go to Lucca . It was a wonderful town. Pisa was about two hours away. Visiting the towns were great day trips and and gave you time to get back to villa to relax by the pool before dinner.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Staggia. You really did need a car to get around. They did have a small supermarket , the Coop. If you travel a little further to Poggibonsi you can go to the SuperCoop. They had everything there!
Tips or Restaurants:
You don't need to bring a thing. The apartments are fully loaded. You share a washer with the other guests.
Great restaurants in Staggia are Babette and La Corte del Goloso. Both are close by. If you like fish go to Babette and just have the chef bring you out food. It was wonderful. The gnocchi at La Corte del Goloso just melted in your mouth. If you go to Trattoria della Rana in Staggia just order the pizza. If you are in Florence go to I Due G Double G's. It was right by the train station. Amazing.
Directions:
Directions were good. You really had to pay attention. to the road signs.
Check In Out:
Rita checked us in and she was so kind. Claudia then checked up on us the next morning. They were wonderful.

Enjoyed Most:
Everything. It exceeded our expectations in all respects. The central position, the peace and quiet. The warmth of the family and the thoughtfulness that they have put into this group of apartments, giving each its own outdoor space and privacy.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing
Surrounding Area:
The farm property itself.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is about a 10-minute walk away.
Tips or Restaurants:
The appartments are very well set up and furnished, so some things we brought, we didn't need.
In addition to nearby restaurants mentioned by others, our find in Chianti was Ristoro Lamole, in Lamole, near Greve. Perhaps it was the day, the mood, and the view but it was great food with great service.

Overall: Montalpruno is extremely convenient to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and so many other places. The owners were just as accommodating as could be. Upon arrival, they presented us with two bottles of wine and one day we returned from a day of exploring to find a home-baked torta on our table. The apartment was very comfortable with a well appointed kitchen. The place itself is beautifully kept, on top of a hill with very nice views all around. All in all, a wonderful experience. Events or Locales: The Duomo in Siena has astounding marble floors that remain covered all year except in September. We were there on Oct 1 and managed to see them. Worth a look if you're there that time of year. Tips or Restaurants: Il Torre in Castellina in Chianti had fabulous ribollita! Brush up on your Italian food vocabulary, you might get some surprises otherwise!

Overall: Very nice property with pool, tennis, sitting areas. Enjoyed Most: Top of a hill, with a great view. Wine & Olive oil (made from grapes, olives, sunflowers grown on the property, which is a working farm). Owners live on the property and were super nice people. Near Chianti wine country, Sienna, San Gimignano, Monteriggione, Colle di Valle D'Elsa, and other Tuscan towns. Unpleasant Surprises: Our unit was a little small, compared to the other units, but still very pleasant. Surrounding Area: Other than Poggibonsi, the nearest large town, the surrounding countryside was beautiful. Typical Tuscan rolling hills with hilltop towns, etc. 15 minutes by car from Siena. We found excellent restaurants in San Gimignano and Monteriggione.

Overall: Great place! Provided us with everything we needed. Great people and location. Highly recommend it.
June, 2001
Overall: The views, the rooms, the people who ran the villa--all were wonderful. Enjoyed Most: The location: central to sidetrips to Siena, San Gimignano, etc. The pool and grounds. Unpleasant Surprises: Hmmm...Maybe the apt could have been a little larger. Surrounding Area: The countryside, Siena, Volterra, Monteriggioni--the villa was ideally situated so that trips half a day long or longer were easy to do. Nearby Events or Locales: Many, as mentioned above. Tips or Restaurants: The restaurant in Monte Riggioni was excellent.
June, 2001
Overall: The villa was well appointed and just what we expected. Enjoyed Most: The scenery, the wine room and the gazebo. Unpleasant Surprises: That there were no written suggestions for outside activities, that would have been helpful. Surrounding Area: It was very quiet but there were amenities a short drive away. Nearby Events or Locales: Siena was very easy to get around and it had some beautiful architecture. I found San Gimignano to be the most entertaining and managable city we visited, just go after the tour buses leave around 2pm. Tips or Restaurants: Go to the COOP in Poggibonsi for cheese, meat and bread. Get a bottle of red from the wine room and enjoy the sunset in the gazebo. We had the best meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner in San Gimignano. There are a few restuarants with gardens over looking the hills. I would suggest finding one for dinner at sunset.
May, 2001
Overall: The location is great. The property is about 1/2 mile from Staggia, where we could go to a small grocery store and the bakery. Siena was about 15 minutes away, San Gimingno was 30 minutes away, Florence was a 30 minute drive home. Enjoyed Most: I liked the property itself. It's incredibly beautiful and is surrounded by lush green fields. The agriturismo is a working vineyard. We enjoyed watching the workers train the grape vines, work on drainange, etc. The owners are very friendly and gracious.
Unpleasant Surprises: I really liked the hosts, but I would have appreciated their knowing a bit more about how to get places, where to park, etc. They spoke very little English. Surrounding Area: The rolling hills around Montalpruno are so very beautiful. I also liked all the little hill towns which were close by. The town of Staggia, 1/2 mile away, has a castle. Also, they have a local soccer team that plays there. I liked going to the bakery every day. Another favorite was walking the vineyard itself. We did a 30 minute walk on the property at least twice a day. Tips and Suggestions: I wouldn't go to Volterra -- instead I might investigate south of Siena. Great restaurant find in Col de Val d'Elsa, Il Molino. Incredible gourmet meal in an old restored mill from the 1800s, at an incredibly low price.
