Enjoyed Most:
The property was beautiful. The views of the Tuscan countryside were some of the prettiest in Tuscany. Also located at the villa was a tasting room for all the products that are produced on the property. The olive oil was the best I have ever tasted. It was like very good butter. All of the wine was good also.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The apartment we rented was the smallest of the apartments at the villa. The living area did not have a couch. The size of the apartment was fine. All the other apartments had couches.
Surrounding Area:
The property was centrally located to many sites we wanted to visit. It was a great base for all the day trips we enjoyed touring by car.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town is Staggia. It is in walking distance - a long one - but we always drove by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
There are many very good restaurants in the area. Claudia was very helpful in calling ahead for us to make reservations on days that reservations were needed. She also had many business cards and brochures for things to do in the area. If you plan to do much cooking at the villa, you need to visit either the grocery at Staggia or one a litter farther away at Poggibonsi. Some supplies were in the kitchen but not everything we needed.
Directions:
Before driving in Italy it is a very good idea to try to learn about the road signs. The directions seemed to be very confusing before we actually followed them, but when we really were in the act of following them, we had little trouble.

Overall:
Our stay was too short. Now that we have experienced many of the local towns I would like to go back and spend time at the villa and enjoy more of the property. The pool looked inviting but it was too cold to use.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the location of this property it was very close to many of the towns we wanted to visit. The owner was wonderful. Very knowledegable and always helpful. She let us sample her wine and oil that was to die for. It was all in all a wonderful experience. They were harvesting the grapes and it was just a sight to see.
Unpleasant Surprises:
This is not the fault of the property but Italy'....we got lost almost every time we tried to find our way back to the villa.
Surrounding Area:
It was so centrally located to many of the places we wanted to visit it worked out GREAT. There was a restaurant that the owner recommended in town that had great food.
Tips or Restaurants:
There really was no living room to this apartment. I was hoping for a couch to lie down on and watch some news at the end of a long day.
Bring room in your suitcase for the wine and oil. It was worth carrying home.

Overall:
The caretakers were wonderful...very pleasant and helpful!
Enjoyed Most:
The pool and outside patio area were wonderful. It was quiet and seemed very much like home.

There was some construction going on at the time, but it was not too imposing.

The location was wonderfully convenient to a number of tourist areas...Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Pisa, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Future renters may want to bring a couple of large pool towels. The kitchen was fairly well stocked with cooking utensils.

The setting is great, and the caretaker lives on the premises.

The location and the caretaker. it is very quiet with a superb view.

The rooms are a bit sparsely furnished.

Overall:
Exceeded our expectations - the grounds in particular were lovely, with lots of room and facilities (i.e. tables and chairs) for all 6 apartments.
Enjoyed Most:
The location (close to a number of towns we wanted to visit), the view (at the top of a hill), and the grounds as mentioned above. Also, the building had been restored very well, and had very modern kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The sitting area part of the one-room kitchen/dining room/sitting room was not very comfortable, and reading light was poor.
Tips or Restaurants:
We went to Babette's Restaurant 3 times, as the food was so good (specialty was seafood).

Overall:
The villa is up on a hill and the view is amazing. Our apartment had many windows and we loved looking out into the countryside. Also, the gardens were very beautiful and walking or jogging through the vineyards was terrific. Pool was beautiful to sit by and the cats which kept us company during our out-of-doors meals were very sweet.
Enjoyed Most:
The location on a hill, the gardens, the pool. The bathroom and bedroom were also quite well appointed.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The kitchen and sitting area in our apartment was small, but it was fine for the two of us and we spent time outside on the patio.
Surrounding Area:
Too many things to list! We loved horseback riding through a nearby vineyard. Siena is amazing (amazing town with great dessert wine - vin santo) as well as San Gimignano and Montalcino (amazing wine - Brunello). Tuscany is breathtaking! The food and wine are superior, the people wonderful and the towns charming.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We wnet to an antique fair in Arezzo which is the first weekend of every month. If you like antiques, it's not to be missed. Also, we loved shopping at the coop in Poggibonsi - great, interesting shoes at incredible prices.
Tips or Restaurants:
Truly, everywhere we ate, we liked. All the wine was amazing. We particularly liked the wine offered at the villa as well as in Montalchino (town in the South of Tuscany). I do not recommend driving in Florence from Tuscany. It's too difficult to park. If possible come to Florence a few days earlier and stay in Florence which by foot is an amazing city - more art per square inch than anywhere else. Driving in Italy is not to missed - crazy but fun!
