Customer Reviews

Overall:
Great. We had a wonderful time. Our flight was delayed and we arrived quite late in the evening. The property manager went out of his way to arrange with the taxi driver to pick us up at the airport and get us to our apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was clean and cozy and warm. The shower was very good.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The phone didn't work. We would have liked to have a second key. The staircase might be a little tough for some people to negotiate.
Surrounding Area:
The shops and bars. People in the streets. Convenient stores were nearby. The metro station was very close. A 5- minute walk to the Seine. The location couldn't have been better.
Tips or Restaurants:
Get better instructions for the phone and ask for a 2nd key. Bistro Roman was open late dinner at midnight and the food was very good.
Directions:
We were picked up at the airport.

Overall:
The apartment was great. It was bigger than a hotel room and having the kitchen let us cut some of our food expenses by eating in after shopping at the nearby grocery. Even though our flight was 5 hours late, our greeter was cheerful and helpful. This is our second Rentvillas.com experience and I would definitely choose them over other rental groups because I trust them.
Enjoyed Most:
It was a great location and having an apartment made us much more comfortable than having a hotel. We cut costs by eating meals "at home" and it really felt like home.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There was a slight smell, so we had to open the window when we arrived. Small things were lacking - no clock no alarm, no soap dish in shower, no bottle opener. I would recommend owners move into their apartments for a couple days to test what the experience would be like and fill in what is missing.
Surrounding Area:
The location was great, filled with bars, cafe, shopping, and centrally located to the Louvre, Tuileries, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Climbing the stairs will allow you to eat another croissant!

Overall:
Clean, quiet, well-located. We'd love to return if we ever get the time.
Enjoyed Most:
Location -- in the oldest part of Paris aside from the Isle de Cite, pretty much pedestrian with a lot of small bars and cafes, walking distance to major attractions and some great fresh open-air markets to choose from. The street outside our door was like a carnival atmosphere on the weekend -- definitely not for everyone but I thought it was refreshing and made me believe that Paris is even more libertine than my hometown, New York City.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Cigarette smoke from the apartment below would get into the bathroom and we had to keep the bathroom door closed the whole visit to prevent the entire apartment from reeking of smoke. This is not unusual when you have smokers in a building. Maybe a better seal around the pipes would help?
Surrounding Area:
The food markets were loads of fun - lots of personality from the vendors. There is lots to do as well with jazz clubs, cafes, bars, museums, department stores, and bistros saturating the area. I will add that this is not an area for more conservatively-minded folks -- Les Halles is at the heart of the Parisian gay life which meant nothing to us, but we know people who might be uncomfortable with this - their loss!
Tips or Restaurants:
Best suggestion is to get a listing of the markets in the area and the days they run ahead of time and then go visit. If you like wine then travel north up the Blvd de Sebastapol and take a left at Rue Etienne Marcel. On your left will be a well-appointed wine shop run by a man with gray hair pulled into a pony tail. He's a wonderful shop keeper, full of personality, his wines were inexpensive but tasty -- great recommendations. In the category of odd but interesting facts, his daughter is married to a former member of Metallica. One recommendation for improvement --- provide brief printed instructions for the washer-dryer. We got it to wash but drying was a different story.
Directions:
We took a shuttle and the driver was initially unwilling to drive down Rue des Lombards from Blvd Sebastapol. Future occupants coming from CDG should know this is no problem, the apartment is only a very short distance ahead and to the left.
Check In Out:
Frederic, our check-in person, was very nice and was a very positive moment in a hectic first day in Paris.

Overall:
We liked the studio very much and were happy.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, design, equipment.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Lack of DVD player to have any entertainment in the evening; I can't speak French, so I couldn't understand French TV. I promise to learn French in the future.
Surrounding Area:
All beautiful places which are in close proximity to the apartment.

Dorota, August, 2006

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was clean and modern. It felt very comfortable.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Since there wasn't air conditioning, the apartment would get very stuffy and hot while we were out. The shower didn't drain properly.
Surrounding Area:
The area was so vibrant. Locals always frequented the surrounding restaurants. The area was very lively.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was fully equipped with cleaning supplies, plates, cutlery, pots, glasses, etc. Maybe bring a few extra rolls of toilet paper.
Directions:
We used Paris Shuttle to take us to the property, therefore, didn't have any issues.
