Customer Reviews

Overall:
A quiet Provençal oasis tucked into the foothills of the Alpilles, Mas Glanis is a serious retreat for serious lovers of the good life with meticulously maintained grounds, great privacy, stunning views and effortless access to anything and everything you could ask for from the region: culture, wine, cheese, sightseeing, rest, relaxation... did I mention wine and cheese? Two weeks later, we departed Mas Glanis with permanent smiles on our faces, recharged, decompressed and feeling great - even though each was ten pounds heavier than when we arrived. C'est bon!
Enjoyed Most:
Location, location, location. Mas Glanis is within walking distance of St. Remy and a scenic car-ride away from most of Provence's top spots: Orange, Les Beaux, Arles, Avignon...the list goes on.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Leaving.
Surrounding Area:
What's not to enjoy? Mix some of the best historical and cultural offerings in the world with the famously laid back life of southern France and you have the great makings of an idyllic vacation.
Nearby Events or Locales:
St. Remy was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring sunblock, a healthy appetite and a new liver.
Directions:
We did not use GPS and had a tough time, with directions in-hand, finding the rendezvous point to meet the owner.
Check In Out:
The owner and his team were great. They took care of everything. We had a couple of small problems with the property and reported them to the owner and they were taken care of and fixed immediately. Literally, within 10 minutes of reporting, each time.

Overall:
I could not have asked for a better vacation or overall experience. The owners were wonderful, the house was amazing, and Provence is an area to which I will definitely return!
Enjoyed Most:
It was beautiful, tastefully decorated, completely functional, clean and convenient.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We loved it all - my only complaint is that I couldn't stay there forever!
Surrounding Area:
St. Remy-de-Provence is a lovely town, with wonderful art, shopping and restaurants. It is also very convenient to other lovely towns - Arles, Gordes, Rousillion, Avignon, etc..
Nearby Events or Locales:
St. Remy-de-Provence - not within walking distance, but a very short drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
You don't need to bring anything - just about all the essentials were provided. In fact, the owner even had coffee and soap for us to use in the washing machine and dishwasher. Only thing you might want to bring is milk, shower soap and wine!
Check In Out:
The owner came right away, showed us to the house, taught us how to use everything and stayed for a glass of wine.

Overall:
The home was lovely, the view spectacular, the location perfect.
Enjoyed Most:
The modern home in the ancient setting.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There was no fly swatter.
Surrounding Area:
St. Remy was a lovely quaint town full of history, resturants, and marketss. The Roman ruins and St. Paul hospital were great and full of history
Nearby Events or Locales:
You need a car from Mas Glanis to St. Remy.
Directions:
The keyholder met us where he said he would
Check In Out:
Check out was 10:00am.

Overall:
The owners and family were lovely and helpful and made us feel welcome. It was a very good location.
Enjoyed Most:
View, beautiful garden, nice pool, easy access to roads and village, very French country farmhouse feel, open-air living.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Building going on next door at the fence line and it was noisy (the owner tried to get it stopped, but was not successful). Other beds not used had no sheets. No extra sheets for the rooms we used. Lack of extra towels. No written instructions for appliances. Dishes, glasses, serving dishes on open shelves were dusty. Only one mirror in each suite and hung too high in bathroom for short people. The owners had a cat which stays inside a lot and was on the chair when we arrived. We were asked if we minded feeding the cat each day. My husband is a cat lover, so he said yes. I was not happy that a pet was in the house. We kept her outside, but she would get in when the doors were opened. When not rented the house is used by the owners. We thought there were too many personal items left in the house.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful countryside, lovely villages, market days, friendly people, great wine and food, much history of the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We drove into town each day.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring wash clothes, hair dryer and adapters. We could buy all we needed at the market and the large grocery store.
Directions:
The owner came to a local restaurant and took us to the house. The restaurant manager knew him and offered to call him to come where we were having lunch. Very nice of him to do this for us.
Check In Out:
Having written instructions in French and the language of the renters would help since the owner did not speak much English and we did not speak French.

Overall:
The house was lovely, perfect for us. We were two families, so one couple stayed in the 2-bedroom pool house, which gave them privacy.
Enjoyed Most:
The tranquility. The patio was enjoyed by all for coffee and juice every morning and nearly each evening we sat outside, sipped spectacular wine and nibbled our dinner with baguettes and cheese and fruit. We watched the last of the day's sun fall asleep behind the mountains and the soft blanket of the moon envelope us into the night. We adopted the kitty and she became rather friendly with us. She would curl up next to our feet and even fell asleep on my husband's chest one night as we read in bed.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing, everything was great.
Surrounding Area:
I have been to St. Remy before and that is why we chose this particular mas. We enjoyed everything. The flowers were so inviting, the irises stood proud guarding the stone walls, the wisteria hung with heavenly clumps, and the rose petals danced in the breeze.
Nearby Events or Locales:
St. Remy. I thought it would have been in easy walking distance, but we ended up driving into town. Most of us are walker and hikers and thought we would walk into town for coffee, but it was further than we anticipated.
Tips or Restaurants:
The best 'restaurant' find was the market on Wednesday! Everything we needed was there.
