Customer Reviews

Overall:
After 19 fabulous days in Italy - 14 of them at Villa San Paolo - we just returned home. All in all a great experience! The Villa was completely as advertised and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. From dealing with Rentvillas for the rental to the dinner cooked at the Villa that you arranged with Giuseppina and Simone, to our welcome and stay at the Villa, it couldn't have been better. Thanks for all your help.
Enjoyed Most:
Ida and Renato were great hosts. After a warm welcome to the immaculate Villa - and Ida's careful explanation of how to take care of her kitchen floors and counter tops - they, for all practical purposes, disappeared, except for when we requested restaurant recommendations, local sights, etc., all of which were provided graciously. And as a special treat, Renato prepared and Ida served my wife and daughter a light lunch - with homemade wine - one afternoon while the rest of us were at the laundry.
Unpleasant Surprises:
My only regret is that with so many places to re-visit and new ones to explore we didn't get to spend much time just relaxing and taking advantage of the amenities of the Villa.

Overall:
We had a wonderful time. The villa had spectacular views, gracious hosts, and a great outdoor area to enjoy. The small village was also a great Tuscan town experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool during the hot afternoons. The views from the back yard. The fresh fruits and vegetables in the yard.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Not all the rooms were air conditioned.
Surrounding Area:
The local town had concerts at night, little cafes and shops, and we could visit all the towns we wanted to see in the Tuscany area within a short drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montespertoli was too far to walk, but we enjoyed the quiet area to return home to.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ida recommended a restaurant in the nearby town that we actually made a second trip back to because we enjoyed it so much. Get out early in the morning, see the local towns, return around lunch to the villa and spend the afternoon enjoying the property and the pool, then go out for the evening. This is the way the locals live as everything shuts down in the early afternoon and it works perfectly.
Directions:
I used GPS, but it did take a minute to find the opening to the driveway, but no problem otherwise.

Overall:
Fabulous! The villa is beautiful and the surroundings, view and overall ambience are spectacular!
Enjoyed Most:
There are so many things I liked but I think the amazing views, no matter what direction, were my favorite. The beautiful antique furniture was lovely and the kitchen was large and very well equipped. I fell in love with Renato and Ida. They were so gracious and helped us with every need.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There are two rather steep steps, with no railing, leading into the kitchen from the living room. I have difficulty with stairs and had a hard time going in and out of the kitchen.
Surrounding Area:
Again, the views were the best. I liked being close to town and having a grocery store and bakeries nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montespertoli was about 3km from the villa. It was an easy bike ride and walkable in a pinch.
Tips or Restaurants:
It would be wise to let renters know about the steps with no railings into the kitchen and bathrooms on the first floor. Also bike rental is a good idea for fun and easy access to town.
Directions:
We did use a GPS which is the best decision we made. Without it the winding roads of Chianti would be difficult to navigate.
Check In Out:
The process went very smoothly.

Overall:
We enjoyed the property and would not hesitate to go back.
Enjoyed Most:
The entire villa and property were very comfortable.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There was nothing we did not like.
Surrounding Area:
There was so much to see in the area. Most towns were about 1 hour away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The town of Montespertoli was closest, but not in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
There was no American coffee pot, if that is an issue. The owner was very accommodating if you needed anything. We did not eat locally, but all the surrounding areas had great restaurants. Ask the owner to have dinner prepared. We did and it was excellent. We had dinner prepared the last night we were there and wished we had it sooner, because we would have done it again.

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience. We had rental cars and took a day trip each day all about 1 hour villa-to-location. Did not get lost due to GPS systems in the cars and were able to enjoy the magnificent countryside.
Enjoyed Most:
I thought the outside area was beautifully maintained, comfortable and relaxing. The pool area was a treat after returning late afternoons from various surrounding towns. The grounds in general were lovely with beautiful views. The website photos did not do justice to the exterior of the house, it was much more attractive.
Unpleasant Surprises:
I was pleased with the property on the whole, everything in working order and comfortable. However, would have preferred a more casual and larger living room area on the ground floor which is where the TV was located and 10 of us gathered in the evening. I would, however, recommend the property.
Surrounding Area:
We visited San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, a winery and Florence and particularly loved the interesting walled towns. I felt the villa location was convenient so that our day trips were no more than an hour away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montespertoli was the nearest town - it was not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
A few restaurants were recommended by the keyholder and were fine. Our lunches were generally in the visited towns and the food was good everywhere. The Coop supermarket was a few miles away and various staples could be picked up there. II would suggest that it be taken care of the day of arrival as stores are closed on Sundays. The house was supplied with toilet paper, soap, kitchen soaps, spices plenty of towels which were replaced during the week.
Directions:
We had two 5 passenger cars equipped with GPS and had no problem getting to the property Pisa airport to villa or to other destinations. HIGHLY recommend using GPS - never got lost.
Check In Out:
It was very easy. The keyholders warmly greeted us and walked us through the rooms with explanations, etc. They were very friendly and accommodating going out of their way to help .
