Customer Reviews

Overall:
It was beyond our expectations. Everyone was very impressed.
Enjoyed Most:
It was excellent in many ways including: 1. Very spacious 2. Had all the amenities internet, wine cellar, fully stocked kitchen, clean, roomy, beautiful bathrooms 3. The cook we used, Doriana, was fantastic 4. Olga and Alex key holders and also made us breakfast were also excellent 5. Attention to detail in the home and in the service provided by Rentvillas was outstanding. 6. Welcoming book from the owners with restaurant recommendations was also excellent. 6. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the outdoor eating area with an amazing patio table and covering to shade the sun when needed.
Unpleasant Surprises:
You have to be prepared to drive a little to get anywhere.
Surrounding Area:
Orvieto was wonderful and the closest town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not much within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Follow the advice from Rentvillas.
Directions:
Directions were excellent

Overall:
Wonderful. "Housekeepers" Alex and Olga made sure that we had everything we needed, beginning with their greeting on arrival, through two weeks of suggestions and translations, to our final tearful farewell.
Enjoyed Most:
It was furnished like an elegant, private home, and SO well equipped with everything we could POSSIBLY need! Perfect for six friends - and could have been eight.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We would like to mention something, to make a balanced report. But we can't think of a thing.
Surrounding Area:
Great paved walking routes in the area. Closeness to lovely Orvieto was wonderful. The neighbors inside the walls of our "compound" were friendly, too!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest small town of Viceno very walkable wasn't much of a town, but the next closest town, Castel Viscardo, had everything and was a stiff walk away - 6 km round trip!
Tips or Restaurants:
If there was ever a property that supplied everything, this is it including umbrellas by the front door. There is NOTHING else to bring. Great written restaurant suggestions complied by the owners helped us find several perfect spots. Our favorite was in the hotel La Pergoletta in Castel Viscardo.
Directions:
We used the map of Lazio that Rentvillas.com sent to us in advance. The hamlet of Benano was shown on that map but not on most others. We also pulled up Benano on Google Maps. So no problem finding it!
Check In Out:
Alex and Olga made checking in and out an experience rivaling anything we have ever encountered. So exciting when we arrived and met them, and so sad to leave. No issue at all getting our security deposit returned, although we would have understood if there HAD been a charge for the gallons of their wine we drank!

Overall:
Our experience was fabulous - from the warm welcome, the restaurant recommendations, the castle tour arrangements, to the beautiful, tasteful furnishings, everything was wonderful!
Enjoyed Most:
Hard to say, the beds were divine, the kitchen had everything, the bathrooms had hairdryers and great towels. The villa comes with a laptop, printer and wireless Internet, a real bonus!
Unpleasant Surprises:
Can't really think of anything we disliked, however, if you are tall, the third floor bedrooms could be a problem with the doors being shorter than 5'10".
Surrounding Area:
The hamlet is adorable and very close to Orvieto, and the autostrada. The views from the dining room are wonderful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Castel Viscardo and Vinceno are near but we didn't really have time to go to either. We did have dinner in Torre Alfina, a beautiful little town about 10 minutes away, one night
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa is so well furnished, just bring clothes and be ready to enjoy Italy. The owner had recommended a cook to come prepare our anniversary dinner, and she, Dorianna, was excellent! We had her come back 3 more times, her husband serves - further decadence!
Directions:
We had a GPS, but the owner's directions were excellent!
Check In Out:
Having some wine and appetizers upon arrival was a wonderful treat. The check in and out process was easy and the owners were so gracious.

Overall:
Our overall experience at Antica Rocca was absolutely wonderful and exceeded our expectations in every way.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa was beautifully furnished, tastefully decorated and in excellent condition. It was a peaceful location with amazing views. The local senior residents of the hamlet were charming and friendly. The summer nights were breezy and comfortable and little air conditioning was required. The management staff was extremely hospitable and helpful. There were nice amenities like cell phones, GPS, a laptop and wireless Internet.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We would have used the patio more if there was access directly from the villa as opposed to having to go out the front door and around.
Surrounding Area:
The landscape and hill towns of Umbria are wonderful. Orvieto is a short drive and we also enjoyed Assisi.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town appeared to be Castel Viscardo, a few kilometers away. We enjoyed the pool at the Pergoletta hotel there and had a pleasant dining experience one night also. Luigi and staff were delightfull.
Tips or Restaurants:
Future renters should be aware that this villa is part of a hamlet i.e. a small village of mostly senior residents and should be fairly quiet and respectful of that situation.
Directions:
GPS could not find the property due to the remote location but the provided direction were fine.
