Overall:
Wonderful. The owner is a joy. Cortona is our favorite town in Tuscany. Casa Erma was delightful.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and the view. Casa Erma is located conveniently to Piazza Garibaldi and accessible to everything in town. Cortona has wonderful restaurants, great places to walk and plentiful parking.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
The countryside surrounding Cortona is simply breathtaking. The girasole/sunflower fields lining both sides of the back roads are memorable. Camucia, which is just down the hill has a large supermarket Coop, gas stations and the train station.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest town to Cortona is Camucia. And you need a car to get there. We enjoyed the ride to the Autostrada through back roads filled with flowers. Also, the road to Montepuliciano is wonderful as well.
Tips or Restaurants:
Internet service was challenging. We had to use our Blackberry but Riccardo was wonderful in that he furnished us with 35 hour plug in card which powered up our laptop. But on whole, not a big issue. Look for restaurants off the main main square. We liked Locanda Al Pozzo Antico.
Directions:
Make sure to get Riccardo's cell number. He met us in the square and helped us with our luggage.
