Customer Reviews

Overall:
There were four of us, fifty-something year olds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Galli. We had outstanding weather and beautiful clear nights to enjoy the view of town, the moon became full over the course of the week and hung elegantly, shining on the sea below.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the location, so much just steps away. Yet we were surprised how quiet it was at the villa. The balcony was wonderful for a late night glass of Italian wine and early morning espresso.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen wasn't really well-equipped.
Surrounding Area:
Positano was great, lots of restaurants and shopping. We hired a driver to take us to Amalfi and Ravello, although there were lots of buses available. We took the ferry to Capri, very easy to do, definitely worth the 30 Euros per person. There were two beaches within walking distance in Positano, some steps involved but we all enjoyed the exercise.
Tips or Restaurants:
We read on the RentVillas site about the steps up to the villa, apparently a challenge for some, and the suggestion oto bring flashlights. We did bring flashlights, but found the steps very well lighted and really didn't need them. We had a most wonderful dinner at Next 2, a restaurant up the street from our place, shouldn't be missed.
Directions:
We met a driver in Sorrento, who called our contact person for directions. He knew exactly where to take us.
Check In Out:
The check-in and out was excellent and quick, nothing we didn't expect.

Overall:
Excellent, great view, and close to some good restaurants and wine store.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the terrace.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen had a musty smell.
Surrounding Area:
We liked the proximity of ammenities.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be prepared for the stairs.

Overall:
Wonderful!
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the location, the sumptuous space, the beautiful antiques and, of course, the breath taking view.
Enjoyed Least:
We thought the cleaning fee was high! In fact, we cancelled one day of cleaning because we just did not mess up the place.
Surrounding Area:
We liked being slightly up from the town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa location was the perfect distance from the center of town and the beach. Maybe beach people would consider it a little far from the beach.

Overall:
Villa Galli is a fairly new and very beautiful villa. The view of the sea is absolutely breathtaking. Kitchen was very well appointed whereby we could get breakfast before we took off for the day. Beds were very comfortable and villa overall was very clean which I appreciated because I am a clean nut in general.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the spaciousness made you feel at home and private from other people sharing villa. Closets and drawers were very ample and clean. It was very peaceful and private. Outdoor veranda is really beautiful, and good for early evening beautiful photos. I am a painter and probably will paint some of my shots.
Enjoyed Least:
The biggest drawback to this property are the 75 steep stairs in poor state of repair that we had to climb everyday. You have to be in fantastic shape to climb up and down everyday. We managed it fine but would have been easier to have less steep steps. We also had a lot of difficulty with flies. There are no screens anywhere. Even candles we purchased did not help. Water in showers would run hot or cold, very difficult to control.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the shops, restaurants and the beautiful people both Italian and others we met in Positano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were fortunate to get the best weather while there and enjoyed wonderful memorable trips to Sorrento, Capri, and Amalfi. An Amalfi coastal boat ride was just breathtaking as we went into caves and saw beautiful coral, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Absolutely, bring small flashlights to use on steps leading up to villa. We had a wonderful experience going to La Tagliata family restaurant. Not for the faint of heart as it is literally "on the moon" and is reached by shuttle supplied by the restaurant. All food is grown on premises and is definitely a "happening".
Directions:
We had a driver arranged by Rentvillas, and a porter to bring our bags up to villa. This was definitely a plus.
Check In Out:
A young lady, Filomina, was very competent and sweet and got us in and out with no problem.

Overall:
The most enjoyable getaway we've ever had!
Enjoyed Most:
The whole thing, but the terrace stood out and became the focal point of our experience at the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
There was a funny smell in the kitchen area that we couldn't pinpoint. Also, we didn't have a key to the main door, and neither did the owner, so closing the place up to keep the heat out during the day was more involved than it should've been. We ended up locking ourselves out on the last day when we unintentionally closed too many doors, even though we had all the keys.
Surrounding Area:
The natural beauty of the landscape and towns was indescribable. The locals were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping make sure we had a good time. Drivers and boat captains! were exceptionally helpful and skilled at their chosen trades - we've never seen anyone maneuver a vehicle the way Peter handled his boat!
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in Positano and we took a boat to Amalfi where we took a cab to Ravello. We didn't try walking anywhere which breaks with tradition for us, though if you consider the 480 steps down to the beach, then Positano beach was the next small town P.S. - we're officially hard bodies now!
Tips or Restaurants:
GOOD WALKING SHOES, vitamins for the plane. Try Ristorante Mediterraneo right up the street from the villa. The market down the street from Cafe Positano has a sweet family of ladies - 3 generations... 4 if you count baby Julia born while we were there!.
Directions:
We hired a driver - highly recommended after a long flight.
Check In Out:
Antonietta was very thorough in describing the property and explaining the process.
