Enjoyed Most:
The views were incredible! Beautifully decorated just like the on-line photos, but better. Owner was very accommodating. Many supplies for cooking and serving great meals. They even had an honor system for purchasing some local items in a locker. Local phone, computer access, and washing machine were some very helpful features.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Bathrooms were clean and neat but very small - especially the shower. The Internet access didn't always work.
Surrounding Area:
Driving to nearby restaurants that were excellent many also had great views. The villa was a destination in itself. We enjoyed being there as much as going out.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked to Sorrento which is a bit of a hike even for those in good shape. The hill is steep. The bus schedule at night is poor, and cab drivers charge a small fortune! Renting a scooter would be a good idea because parking is difficult unless you know where to go. Traffic is heavy as well.
Tips or Restaurants:
Many kitchen accessories are there, so bring a few dry spices and shop locally to your heart's content. We enjoyed many meals there. The book from Rentvillas - living like a local - has a complete packing list which was very helpful.

Enjoyed Most:
Gorgeous view.
Unpleasant Surprises:
This is my third time at this villa and I was surprised by how run down the grounds were.
Surrounding Area:
Sorrento is ideally located for exploration of nearby towns. The train, bus and ferry make it very convenient for day trips.
Tips or Restaurants:
Have anna prepare you at least one meal at home, with the local wine. if you are willing to spend some money, the ristorante L'Antica Trattoria is wonderful, with fabulous food and an engaging staff--it was one of the best meals of my life, but be prepared to lay out some cash for the experience.

Overall:
We had an incredible trip! This was the first place we stayed in Italy; it was a delightful experience. The owner was extremely kind, honest, and informative. He made himself available if we had any questions or problems. I must say that having access to the internet was a delight! We were able to keep in touch with family and friends while staying at the villa. Overall, our stay at the villa was a wonderful experience. We would definitely go back.
Enjoyed Most:
The home itself is magnificent and the views are splendid. In fact, I think that it is the best location in all of Sorrento. We liked the views, having Internet access, and the owner. He was very honest and informative.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The bathrooms were difficult to use. My husband is a large man, and it was difficult for him to use the shower.
Surrounding Area:
The town of Sorrento is beautiful and convenient--it has everything you need. We were only a few minutes from town. We were able to take either boats or trains to see Naples, Pompeii, and Capri. We also were able to explore the rest of the area by car.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Sorrento. It is a 15 minute walk in a busy up and downhill road.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant Il Borgo Ristorante was excellent. It is about 2.5 miles away if you make a left out of the driveway. Also, there is a great store called the Wine Corner on the left just before you enter Sorrento.

Enjoyed Most:
The views and architecture.
Unpleasant Surprises:
A lot of road noise in the two western-facing rooms.
Surrounding Area:
Great shopping, food and beaches.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Sorrento. It is within walking distance, but difficult to hike back from due to elevation gain.

Enjoyed Most:
The view was excellent. The four bedrooms around the very large main room are perfect for a large family or a group that knows each other well. We discovered the old cobblestone road down to town just below the property which makes a great way to enter and leave town. The outside sitting area under the trees is great. The Villa is a treat with the very high ceiling and great windows. It is nice to be able to fix some meals at the Villa. It is also nice to have the Villa to get away from the crowds.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There was some noise from the road. The netting for the beds needs some repair. The furniture in the main room could use some upgrading. It was quite hot when we were there although there is usually a good breeze through the windows.
Surrounding Area:
There is great access to Capri, Amalfi, Positano, Ravello from Sorrento. Driving is somewhat of a challenge but once you get use to it, it is not too bad.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked to Sorrento but it isn't a short distance. You need to be in reasonable shape for the walk back up the hill.
Tips or Restaurants:
Walk down the oldest street in Sorrento to the family-run restaraunt on the water called Trattoria Da Emilla. Whatever you do, do not go to the large four-star hotel just below the Villa.

Enjoyed Most:
Gorgeous view, flowers everywhere.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Could use another shower. The washing machine takes forever, a typical European washer.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to other towns, such as Positano, Capri, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't pack hairdryers or irons, since the villa has those. The big supermarket is smack in the middle of Sorrento's main drag, which we didn't discover until the last day. Get Anna to prepare you a dinner- her cooking is fabulous and it's a wonderful evening. be prepared though, it's enough food for a small army.

Overall:
An absolutely fantastic setting.
Enjoyed Most:
The views, the main rooms - bedrooms and living room are all beautifully furnished. Lovely feeling in the house. Linen was gorgeous.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Only 1 shower for 8 people. The kitchen could be better equipped, by including an electric kettle and a miicrowave. Wish there had been a Satellite TV, but not a big issue.
The property next door is being converted into 5 apartments, and the conversion is currently noisy, and when done it might prove a problem for parking, since space is tight.
Surrounding Area:
Stunning view of Sorrento, Olive trees, lemon trees, just a fantastic setting. Wonderful ambience. So much to see and do.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Bus times are not that frequent so you have to be organized if you want to catch the bus. A taxi to town and back is rather expensive.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found the restaurants are expensive. It is essential to have your own transport to get to the better beaches and drive around the Sorrento peninsula, which is very pretty and a lot less busy.

Overall: What a great first impression as you approach the villa via the front drive! Enjoyed Most: The property was clean, well organized and a real thrill. We liked the view, the dog, the caretaker, the gardens, and the view. Unpleasant Surprises: We had a little problem with the washing machine. But it was easily fixed. The piano is very nice looking but grotesquely out of tune. We were planning on the piano. If it is important to you, please ask to have it tuned before you get there. Surrounding Area: It's a short walk to the city of Sorrento via a cobblestone walk that starts right below the villa. The town is full of shops and tourists. Buy a bottle or two of Limoncello and chill out. It was really hard for us to leave the villa. Tips or Restaurants: The restaurants up the mountain from the villa were all good. The meal we ate at Johanna Park across the road was the poorest of our entire trip.
July, 2002
Overall: Coming up the beautiful driveway towards the house for the first time was an incredible experience. It took my breath away. Enjoyed Most: The view! The view! From every window and from all over the property the views were gorgeous.
Also, the caretaker and her family were marvelous.
The house has such a historic feeling, and such an Italian feeling that it made for a wonderful place to stay. Unpleasant Surprises: The furniture in the living area wasn't very comfortable, but this was certainly a very small complaint and didn't affect how much we enjoyed being there. Surrounding Area: Sorrento is lovely, but a bit hard to get around without a rental car. Tips or Restaurants: There is a restaurant across the street from the villa in the hotel run by Johanna. She'll make sure that you are well fed and taken care of. As soon as we walked in late on a Saturday, she greeted us with, "you must be from the villa"
June, 2001
Overall: In general, our experience was quite wonderful, with a lovely house and helpful people in Italy.
April, 2001
Overall: The property was charming and incredibly large. The high ceilings were a plus. Add to that drop dead gorgeous views from two bedrooms, the garden, and roof, and the convenient location and you have a perfect spot. The caretakers were friendly and can prepare amazing food very inexpensively, if you want. It was nice to have a washing machine as well. The place has a lot of character and history with lots of antique furnishings. I would stay there again without hesitation. Enjoyed Most: The views and spaciousness of the bedrooms and living room. The olive groves around the property make a
nice evening walk. Unpleasant Surprises: The hot water heater is too small. Water turns cold in less than 1 miniute! Also, it's a very windy
spot, and all the old doors open and shut with the drafts. Some windows/doors don't fit properly in their frames, resulting in loud banging in the night.
Surrounding Area: The views, shopping, and
variety of restaurants were great. Close to ferries and trains as well, for day trips to Capri, Ischia, and Pompei. Events or Locales: We didn't particiapte in any local events, but we noticed there were lots of classical music concerts going on in places like Ravello and Positano. We enjoyed just watching people tend their olive groves and strolling around the town. Tips and Restaurants: As for day trips: Pompei and Paestum are musts for those interested in ruins. Positano is a good place to sun yourself, swim, and shop. Capri is glorious- take the chair lift at Anacapri for an amazing view. As for food, I have to admit that the caretaker of the villa, AnnaMaria, makes the best food in the largest quantity for the cheapest price. I could have eaten home every night. In Sorrento I liked Antique Tratorria for dining al fresco ($60.000 minimum per person at dinner) and La Fenice for pizza and seafood in a casual atmosphere. Sorrento was the closest town, amd we could walk there but it is a little steep on the way back up. I'd suggest taking the car in.

Overall: Usually the pictures are better than real life. Not in this case. It was breath-taking. No one said anything about the fabulous view!! Enjoyed Most: The atmosphere, the view and the space. Unpleasant Surprises: Nothing!! Surrounding Area: The surronding area was great, especially the access to all the fabulous restaurants. Nearby Events or Locales: It is 15 minutes to Sorrento, and 30 minutes to Positano. Tips or Restaurants: The Restaurant d'Oro is new, fabulous, trendy, and inexpensive.
August, 2000
Overall: A very authentic villa with period pieces. Attractive linens and towels, with lavendar in linen drawers. The details were important. It was perfect for eight people, with plenty of personal space. Outstanding views from every window. Enjoyed Most: The privacy and total feeling that it was ours for the week. We enjoyed Anna Maria, the cook and overseer. She was a godsent.
Unpleasant Surprises: The noisy buses blowing their horns all day. Surrounding Area: We enjoyed the town of Sorrento, the view of Mount Vesuvius along with the Bay of Naples, the nice people, the beaches, and the easy access to Pompeii and Herculenium by train. Nearby Events or Locales: The beaches. Pompeii. Herculenium. Sorrento. The Amalfi coast. Amalfi. Three hours from Rome. Great local restaurants and pastry shops. Tips or Restaurants: There are two good linen shops in Sorrento. There are also great boutiques for women.
July, 2000
Overall: It had great views. Liked the size and condition of the property. Enjoyed Most: Views Unpleasant Surprises: Bathroom location and size. Surrounding Area: Lots of good restaurants nearby.
March, 2000
Overall: The setting was more than we could have imagined. I thought it was an excellent value. It was quite spacious except that the bathrooms were very small and the shower doesn't work well. The owner told us there was a ghost living in the unfinished floor above us. It does look pretty spooky up there. One night, there was a tremendous rain, thunder, and lightning storm. The wind whistled and moaned around the house just like a horror movie. The kids (ages 8-16) were kind of freaked out and the adults were a bit nervous as well.
Enjoyed Most: The views from the apartment, from the rooftop terrace, and from the level backyard were stunning.
Surrounding Area: It was easy to find everything we needed as it is not in a large town. It was crowded with tour buses on the roads at times. The people were very friendly. Tips or Restaurants: Annamaria, the caretaker, and her mother were excellent cooks. We ordered the fish dinner one night and they served us antipasto, primi, secondi, contorno, dolce, and bread, all for 35.000 L per person. We made two dinners out of it. La Favonta O Parrnchiano is a very good seafood restaurant on the main street of the town. A bus schedule for the rout that passes the house on Via Nastro Verde would have been helpful. We never did figure out that corner.
November, 1999
Overall: Great view. Nice location. Very large. Best with large family or a few couples to share expense. We didn't need 4 large bedrooms. Building was old and it creaked and groaned at night.
Unpleasant Surprises: Expensive cleaning bill for space we didn't need or use. There were flies/mosquitoes with windows open. This seems to be a universal problem.
