Enjoyed Most:
It is a well-designed, attractive house that contains quality furnishings. The owner was an extremely gracious woman who was most generous in supplying basic provisions milk, champagne, bread, orange juice, butter, etc. There were ample towels and toilet paper.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The owner, who met us on our arrival, didn't speak English. After a long travel day, it was tiring to try to understand her instructions about the washer, dryer, and dishwasher, etc. I hope that the owner will supply written instruction in English for the house. The house is on a road that carries occasional late at night.
Surrounding Area:
We didn't spend time in Peymeinade or in Grasse. The location was a reasoinably affordable place to stay while we explored the Cote d'Azur and some of the hill towns; however, the traffic around Grasse made travel time-consuming.
Tips or Restaurants:
Gourmet Tables Treasures of Provence, by Jacques Gantie, is an invaluable guide to restaurants with detailed commentaries and ratings and lists of craftsmen, vendors, and growers.

Overall:
We would stay there again in a heartbeat--the location and property were just outstanding.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was beautifully maintained and pretty. There was ample room for all of us seven and the sitting areas were lovely. The pool was perfect and surrounded by flowers. The kitchen was a dream and well equipped..Loved it!!! And the landlady was absolutely delightful..She went out of her way to make it sparkle for us.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The bathrooms were tricky to negotiate, but adequate. As the one bathroom was not in the same room as the shower and sink, one had to go down a level to get to the commode or up a level if one was in the lower bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
Everything--the day trips to the hills or coast were all manageable and worthwhile. There is something for everyone really--all age groups. Cabris is special--we enjoyed the beach at Cagnes sur Mer--it was pebbly but more family oriented than the ones around St. Tropez. People were clothed!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Grasse was quite close and fun to explore. You could walk to a bread store and farm stand, but on a main road--so best to negotiate everything by car
Tips or Restaurants:
Chantegrille was excellent and close and the pizza place near there was also good for take out. There are two grocery stores--Intermarche and Champion--and the bookstore near Champion sells English books and the Herald Tribune as well as postcards. The post office is right there too.

Overall:
Lovely home to return to after day of sightseeing. We did not have children with us, but it would be a comfortable, easy place for a family to bring who can negotiate stairs and be respectful of a lovely home.
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet, peaceful setting. House and grounds are very well maintained. The owner is a lovely, friendly woman and very pleasant to deal with.
Unpleasant Surprises:
You need to drive everywhere. Feels like living in a nice suburb rather than in a village. Need to get used to all the details of the locks and security system on the house and gate. Not really a problem - just good to know in advance that it's part of the experience of coming and going.
Surrounding Area:
Small villages in the mountains and by the coast are wonderful. The Maeght Foundation in St. Paul and other small museums were quite interesting. Valbonne, Grimaud, Seillons and Tourette-sur-Loup were our favorites but many others worth seeing. Some towns more touristy and well traveled than others. It's essential that someone be comfortable with driving on small, winding, precipitous roads.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Peymienade is the nearest small town. Not really worth visiting except for buying food or other essentials. No reason to walk there. It would mostly be along a busy road.
Tips or Restaurants:
Chantigrille up the road away from Peymeinade is a lovely family run restaurant worth a trip. Le Cadran Solaire in Valbonne down a little alley is also family run with intimate atmosphere and delicious, local food. Bachanallas in Tourette just got a star.

Overall:
It was very clean and private.
Enjoyed Most:
There was plenty of room for six people. The house and yard was well kept and everything, including dishes, plates, BBQ, etc, was available for use.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing - I would go back again.
Surrounding Area:
There was different scenery within a short distance of the property. We were able to visit the mountains with a 20 minute drive and also able to visit the sea in about 30 minutes.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Pymeniade. It was a small village just outside of Grasse.
Tips or Restaurants:
There was a lake area just southwest of the property. It was a nice area and had sailing, fishing available.

Overall:
I would rent this property again. However, do expect to have to drive anywhere you may want to go.
Enjoyed Most:
Charming. The property was immaculate; the owner was wonderful. We could tell she really cared, and wanted us to enjoy her home.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The location. The village it was in has nothing. There is no area to "stroll" and enjoy the evening. You really had to drive to a cute little village to do that.
Surrounding Area:
The charm.
Tips or Restaurants:
Chantegrill which is the nearest restaurant is excellent. We ate there 3 times!
Check In Out:
The owner does not speak any English. My husband speaks a bit of French and got us through most of it. The owner did call her daughter to help us through one rough spot!

Overall:
We appreciated the owner's hospitality. We did not find any "anti-American" sentiment through our two weeks in Provence. Great patisseries within a mile of the villa!
Enjoyed Most:
The pool area was lovely. Very nice pots of plants and landscaping. The place was very "Provencal" in decorating, very pretty and inviting. The owner, was really sweet and kind.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We had trouble figuring out how to work the washer and dryer...maybe more instruction would have helped. New cushions for the pool loungers would be nice.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful countryside. Great little villages all around. The proximity to day trips like to the beach and to the lower alps was wonderful
Nearby Events or Locales:
Peymenade...it was okay, people very friendly. 2 miles max, so it is walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would definitely recommend dinner in Cabris, a small hilltop village near Peymenade. Go to the Augerge of Cabris for dinner, wonderful with fantastic views. We also really enjoyed a daytrip to Gourdon and futher up near Cassoul where we hiked on a high rocky plateau and saw the remnants of bourie villages. Also, the artisan area of the village of Tourrette de Loup I think it's called was great. Peymenade has a tourist info area with a schedule of local artist, flea, and traditional market days at villages in the area. Good info.

Enjoyed Most:
The villa was outstanding inside and out...the spring flowers and the grounds around the house were nicely manicured ...and the pool area with all the available seating and cooking areas made it very convenient and a fun place to entertain. We had two young children there and it worked out fine ...the children played outside a lot, as the yard was great for children..they even brought their bikes out from Nice.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Can't think of anything.....
Surrounding Area:
We took many day trips with our daughter who knows the area...easy access into Nice and the surrounding Mediterranean villages and cities...also easy to get into the maritime alps area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Peimenade was the closest town and one could walk to a section of it that had a bakery...but one would need to drive into the village proper.
Check In Out:
The owner was very gracious, and was kind enough to equip the kitchen with bountiful supplies and an array of area specialties including wine and cheese.

Enjoyed Most:
Granted the graciousness of our landlord had a lot to do with my opinion of all aspects of the Villa, I do believe the way she decorated each room was beautifully inviting. The living room beckoned one to sit and relax; the bedrooms solicted one to just lie down and snooze, and of course the pool area accompanied by grill, gas stove, refrigerator, etc., made one want to lounge by it and forget the time of day! That lady was the most pleasant and accommodating person I've ever met even though I needed our one French speaking traveling companion to interpret what she was saying. I knew by her sparkling smile that all she wanted was to ensure our comfort!
Unpleasant Surprises:
If I had to pick one thing, because I really liked the place in its entirety, it would be the 'toilette' rooms- not the bathrooms because they were great, but the fact that they were not co-located with the toilette as I am used to, took a little getting used too. Not a big deal!
Surrounding Area:
The availabilty of many things to do in close proximity is what I liked most about the surrounding areas. Little villages to sight se, enjoy cuisine, and experience the local cultures as well as easy access. It took one hour to the big city offerings of Nice, Monaco, and Italy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Peymeinade is the nearest small town and it is within 2-3 kms. Two in our party walked-jogged around the nearby area.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Villa accommodated well and the only suggestion would be to allow more time to enjoy it as well as the surrounding offerings. We did so much that I do believe had I more time I would had allowed for more time staying put at the Villa. I remember one place in Tourrettes sur Loup named Le Relais des Coches -lerelaisdescoches.com - because the owners, Wayne and Cecile, gave me their card.

Enjoyed Most:
The overall ambience was wonderful....the furnishings and everything in the house made it a home away from home. We enjoyed the pool which was beautifully warm. The food we found on our arrival was delightful. The location was ideal for daily trips to different places. The owner was delightful and made us feel so welcome.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing!
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the proximity to many different places - Cannes, St.Tropez, and Monaco. Something for everyone nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Peymeinade was nearest and you could walk there - approx 15 mins - but you did need a car for the property.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Chantegrille was a lovely restaurant. Plenty of places to eat in Grasse. The local supermarket has everything you need and is about a 5-minute drive. Recommend buying bread croissants first thing each morning for breakfast!
Directions:
We found it with no problems

Overall:
Super in all respects, with a charming landlady!
Enjoyed Most:
Very comfortable and well-equipped. The pool was very nice.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Minor item; Not enough bath towels, only one per person. Would be nice to have more, or perhaps towels for the pool.
Surrounding Area:
Very good location for making day trips. We went everywhere!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Lots of day trips--Nice, Vence, St. Paul de Vence, Biot, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Chantegrill is quite good. It is just to the east of Peymeinade, with a very nice staff.
July, 2002

Overall:
It was clean and airy. Lots of space! Very quiet and peaceful.
Enjoyed Most:
It was well taken care of and the owner was very sweet. Nice kitchen and bedrooms.
Unpleasant Surprises:
All of the leaves that constantly fell from one of the trees into the pool. There were lots of ants by the pool also.
Surrounding Area:
It was quiet and we felt safe.

Overall:
Lovely home.
Enjoyed Most:
Charming house, kichen very well-equiped. Pool was small, but delightful.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We had maid service mid-week (which was included) - would have been nice to have had her take the garbage with her. Clean towells would have been nice mid-week, as well. And, we didn't speak French, so never understood that there was air conditioning that we could have used!
Surrounding Area:
Lovely French hillsides. But when we went to explore, we did have to travel a ways. So the location wasn't optimal to the coast because of all the traffic!
