Enjoyed Most:
The view from the living room, bedroom and balconies was excellent. The location was very close to the main square, shopping area and transport bus, ferry terminals. The apartment was clean and spacious and adequately furnished.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Only the stairs on arrival, carrying luggage. After that they were not an issue.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed being part of the local culture and interacting with local people and to some extent experiencing the Amalfi way of life. We loved our trip to Ravello 5km above Amalfi - caught the bus up and walked down the winding staircase back to town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There was a walking track to Atrani which was 1km from Amalfi, our location.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you turn left from the front door there is an interesting walk with spectacular views which can take you down to the boat harbor. Take along a radio, I-pod external speakers if you do not speak Italian. There is a simple TV only and no radio music. The cafe at the top of the main street near top traffic light is a good place to have a coffee, beer, and people watch. Pansa Pasticceria in the main square has an excellent choice of cakes all nicely gift wrapped to take away to enjoy with your afternoon coffee and private view from the balcony.

Enjoyed Most:
The villa was quite spacious and had excellent views.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We enjoyed sleeping with the windows open, but we unfortunately were awakened at the crack of dawn EVERY morning by very loud garbage men. Extra pillows and blankets would have been nice, but the villa satisfied our needs for the week.
Surrounding Area:
The beaches were an excellent place to relax and very close by, and the people were very nice.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed in the center of Amalfi, but toured almost every town on the Amalfi coast at some point. Including Capri.
Tips or Restaurants:
Eolo was our favorite restaurant in Amalfi.

Overall:
This property was great for just a couple but there was a whole bedroom we did not use that would have been great for 2 children. I thought the best part was the views of the Duomo in the town center from one of our decks. Also be prepared if you want to go to the beach to spend 5 Euro per day for an umbrella and chair. If you are not willing to spend that, there is a public beach in Praiano which is 15 minutes walking distance and it is free, but you will need your own chair or beach towel to have with you. Other than that the whole experience was top notch.
Enjoyed Most:
The decks and views were fantastic. The deck with the table and chairs was wonderful for breakfast and meals made in the evening. This is when the town was quietest and most peaceful. I also liked the neighbors. They welcomed us as we came in and we even had them over for a meal. Very nice overall property.
Unpleasant Surprises:
It got a bit noisy at night at times in the early evening due to the street noise below. I know this sounds nit-picky, but I live in a city and am used to noise so it had to be noticeable if I am writing about it.
Surrounding Area:
Views over the cliffs, ability to walk and get anything we needed, and the ability to thoroughly enjoy the area after the tour coaches left. Also, there are numerous restaurants and places we enjoyed exploring on walks.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The Amalfi town square was under 100 steps below our property. I could run down to the grocery store and be back in 5 minutes.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring beach towels and sunblock. We forgot to bring enough sunblock and it cost dearly. It was 20 Euro for 12 oz. bottle of 40 SPF sunblock. Bring plastic bags and sponges, too, as they came in handy. Also bring detergent to do laundry in sink so you can have clean clothes. This was a big savings for us because of length of stay overall in Italy.

Enjoyed Most:
The view was simply amazing of the ocean and town of Amalfi and the apartment was light and airy and comfortable, even for 4 adults. The property representatives were very nice and helpful.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Second room with two beds was rather small for two adults, but still workable. Pillows were as hard as rocks. I suggest they find softer pillows for guests.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Atrani is the nearest town and is walkable if you're willing to walk up and down many stairs. It's a very small town, but still charming to take a look. It's a bit hard to find the stairway that goes there, but if you ask around or go to the tourist office, they can tell you.
Directions:
We took a bus to Amalfi from Salerno and returned by boat. Both were easy and good options.

Overall:
Lovely place with great views and easy access to Amalfi and the Amalfi Coast.
Enjoyed Most:
The views from the balconies were great! It was right in the middle of Amalfi and across from the beach and bus and ferries.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The upstairs bedroom is small and the beds are more like cots. It was not a safe space for young children of toddler age, as the window opens directly onto the alley below and is right behind one of the beds. A toddler could easily climb out the window. Also, the circular staircase up to that room could be difficult for a young child to navigate, especially at night.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to ferries and buses to take day trips to Positano, Capri, Sorrento, etc. Amalfi has great little streets, restaurants, small beach.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Amalfi - at the bottom of the steps.
Tips or Restaurants:
If traveling with a toddler, this might not be the best property for you if you aren't able to watch them on the balconies and due to the upstairs bedroom window opening onto the alley.
Check In Out:
Very efficient, friendly and helpful property manager.

Overall:
We loved the view and location of the apartment, but we found the furniture in the living room to be uncomfortable.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was wonderful. You looked out and saw nothing but the beautiful bay. It was phenomenal.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The noise from the area below the apartment, which started very early in the morning, at 5:00 or 5:30 AM, and sometimes there was still noise at 2:00AM. The weather was beautiful and the windows could have been kept open but we had to shut them when we wanted to sleep. The lighting throughout the apartment is poor. The kitchen is minimally equipped and there was little counter space. There were missing might bulbs and wine glasses when we arrived, but they were replaced.
Surrounding Area:
It was conveniently located to stores and transportation. Amalfi has wonderful energy and it was always fun to walk in town. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Amalfi is just down the 139 steps from the apartment.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be prepared for the steps. You will walk down them everytime you leave the apartment and up them when you return. But it is great exercise and helps mitigate the effects of all the wonderful food and wine you are consuming! We enjoyed all our meals but especially enjoyed Il Tari and Maccus. At Maccus, at the end of the evening, the owner even serenaded the guests.
Check In Out:
The young woman who met us was very nice, very friendly, very efficient.

Enjoyed Most:
Stunning views, filled with sunshine with French windows to the balconies. Hard to say one thing because it was that combined with the light, airy interior that was decorated tastefully and simply with tiled flooring. Its position amidst Amalfi up the steps of the lovely winding, cobbled, tiny passageways. It was all those things that made it so gorgeous.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Really was nothing to dislike. There were just two us (a couple). We used the second bedroom for our clothes. If another couple had been there then it would have been cramped. The second bedroom is two single beds and quite dark. It does not have a pool, garden, or large terrace, but that did not matter. Its proximity to the beach, stunning position, sun-filled balcony was all that we needed.
Surrounding Area:
The architecture, the cultural events, the beach, the little port with boats, the coastline, the restaurants, the cafe's...everything!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Maoiri was close and Ravello was also nearby. Former closer for walking but both easy to get to.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ristorante Aelo in Amalfi - very good, balconies open to the sea, sophisticated, huge wine list. Palazzo Sasso in Ravello - absolute must. Divine. Look it up on the web - 5 Stars, two restaurants - both with stunning views out across the coastline, excellent service, good food. Pastry shop beside the steps to the Duomo is probably the best for coffee and croissants...sweet old gentleman serving with silver cutlery wrapped up with a fine ribbon too... Great pizza take-outs of course by the slice..
Check In Out:
Antonietta, the property manager was very nice and a good person to have for meeting and greeting!

Overall:
I would recommend it.
Enjoyed Most:
Location - up a lot of stairs but right in the center of town.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The stairs.
Surrounding Area:
The people. Because we stayed there a week, we got to know many folks who worked in the restaurants and cafes.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You are in the center of Amalfi!
Tips or Restaurants:
The main bedroom is a double bed. The bedroom upstairs is two singles with a low ceiling. There is a restaraunt right at the bottom of the stairs and we loved the waiters, they were great - Mario and Luigi.
Directions:
We used a cab so we did not need directions.

Overall:
You have to be up for the steps. I think there were 133 up to the property...but Amalfi pales in comparison to Positano relative to steps. The property was lovely..felt like a real vacation villa and was well supplied and comfortable. It was in a fantastic location in the town itself. Overall, a great value and great experience. We'd go back there again.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were superb and made the whole experience very special. We enjoyed the small porch that allowed us to sit for hours and take it all in.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Lighting was poor in the bathroom particularly, and in the kitchen after dark. The bus "depot" in the main thoroughfare below the property was noisy and unappealing.
Surrounding Area:
Amalfi was wonderfully located among all the resorts on the coast. It offered a perfect combination of beauty, small town charm, lovely town squares in which to sit, relax and people watch and take a stroll or sun on the beach. All of the other resorts were easily accesible and had their own special charm.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Maiori and it was not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Rentvillas' suggestion list for things to bring was excellent. A reading light came in very handy with the poor lighting. With the advent of the Euro and the poor exchange rate, we ate out less and purchased items from the small grocery stores and fruit stands and made our own meals. When we ate out, it was mostly for lunch vs. dinner. Pizza, a misto sald, and local wine made for a good and reasonable meal. Silver Moon (right on the water)provided a beautiful view, wonderful service and terrific food.
Directions:
Driving along the coastal road is an adventure and there are other routes, but the one you provided was the easiest to follow and also a beautiful drive.
Check In Out:
The Savoia bar was right there when we arrived, however, parking in the town Square is impossible, relative to meeting the agent.

May, 2004

Enjoyed Most:
The location and the views.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The stairs up to the apartment. People need to be aware of them as it would be a problem if you weren't up to climbing them due to health reasons.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the beauty of the area and really enjoyed being in Amalfi as it is such a lovely village.

Enjoyed Most:
We stayed here for our honeymoon in October -- and it could not have been more wonderful. We talked about what a wonderful, peaceful trip it was almost every day -- and that is in large part due to the wonderful property and travel tips that Rentvillas.com provided for us. So THANK YOU!! We are so lucky to have found Rentvillas.com. This was our first trip to Europe not connected to a tour group or student exchange, and to have the chance to stay in a beautiful, private apartment and really soak in the town was the perfect experience for us! We are already dreaming of our next trip to Italy, and would not think of booking a place to stay with anyone else. Our driver from the airport, Nino of Persico Car Service, had only wonderful things to say about you, too -- he said you are one of the few companies that really delivers exactly what you advertise on the website. Thank you again -- we have such wonderful memories of our week on the Amalfi Coast!

We enjoyed a wonderfully peaceful week. The property itself and the views from the apartment were better than we even hoped for and the information and advice Rentvillas.com provided made it all go very smoothly.
Surrounding Area:

Amalfi is such a gorgeous, charming, easy little town.
