Customer Reviews

Overall:
Exceeded expectations. Beautiful place, very well kept, friendly staff.
Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful gardens, comfortable accommodation, proximity to great grocery store.
Enjoyed Least:
Laundry facilities were complicated to use. We could have used a music player.
Surrounding Area:
Easily accessible to some of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany. Cortona itself is very close and the district capital of Arezzo was a particularly pleasant find with great shops, nice restaurants, and interesting buildings.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Property is technically in Camucia. Nothing really within walking distance as the highway is busy. However, fantastic Coop supermarket less than one mile by car with great fresh breads, fruits, vegetables, meats, pastas, cheeses, wines and any other supplies you might need.
Tips or Restaurants:
Well furnished, we brought several things we did not need. Teatro restaurant in Cortona is very good
Directions:
Can be difficult to find as Garmin and Tom Tom do not accept the address. Also, Google Map directions are almost useless as Italian intersections do not use highway numbers, which are the basis for Google directions.

Overall:
The villa was exactly as expected. The service was fantastic. The staff was polite and courteous and very responsive.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds were beautiful. It was private, yet spacious. The restaurant on the grounds was wonderful. The food was exceptional and the service beyond compare to other restaurants that we tried. Our only suggestion is a more extensive menu. Also, the close proximity to Cortona and Montepulciano and to local wineries made this the ideal location.
Enjoyed Least:
The washing machine took at least 2 hours, but everything was very clean.
Surrounding Area:
The privacy and the location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Camucia was within walking distance. We walked to the grocery store and a local, fabulous restaurant, Canta Napoli. Cortona was about 2-3 km., and was the perfect size for the average 60 year old tourist. Even though it was a hillside town, it was very managable for daily trips.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ask the receptionist to hire a guide for a half a day. Our guide, Lorenza, was so pleasant and informative. We felt like we met a friend. Bring wash cloths and soap. The villa was very well equipped.
Directions:
We used a GPS, and there were many signs directing you to the villa.

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect for taking day trips in the area.
Enjoyed Least:
The showers were difficult to use without excess water flooding the bathroom floors.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting the small historical cities
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nothing was within walking distance but many small towns were within a short drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Many good restaurants in Cortona. Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano, Panicale and Castiglione del Lago were among the places visited during our day trips. Much of our time was spent in Cortona which is just up the hill from our villa.
Check In Out:
Staff was very professional, friendly and helpful.

Overall:
A really amazing place - the photos do not do it justice. We loved the grounds, the home was enormous and well appointed, and the whole experience very special. We were traveling with a pack of kids, and they loved running through the orchards and large grassy meadows, playing the in the huge pool and picking sweet cherries right off the tree.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is very well kept and landscaped beautifully. As you walk through the grounds, you feel like you are miles from any worries or tensions - arbors strain under the weight of fattening grapes, olive trees begin to mature their harvest, lavender and rosemary leave calming scents in the air. By the way, having a pool and restaurant at the property as well as free use of washer-dryer made us feel the comforts of a hotel stay while stay while still enjoying our own private home.
Enjoyed Least:
If anything, it might be the proximity to the small road that runs through the town. You know Italians and their Vespas - we could occasionally hear them speeding along at breakneck speeds.
Surrounding Area:
Being at the foot of the Cortona hill, the walled city was just a few minutes drive away - it is really charming and quietly romantic. Not too toursity at all, like some of the other hill towns of Tuscany. Very authentic restaurants and shops, just enough churches not to make you overdose, and friendly people who say ciao with a smile, just because that is what friendly people do.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Camucia is the nearest hamlet, and you can walk there easily. The Coop supermarket is very close by and well stocked with any supplies you might need, and there are restaurants very near as well. A more modern town, Camucia has all the businesses you would need - gas stations, banks, post office, shops, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring mosquito repellent - there is no avoiding the little buggers. The units have AC and are cool and comfortable day or night - we chose to open the windows and shutters to enjoy the authentic Tuscan breezes. For a great guided tour of Cortona, contact Giovanni for an informative and entertaining hike through the town adreanigiovannilibero.it. Great restaurants are Loggeta and Trattoria Dardano in Cortona.

Overall:
Very good. Nice people and very accommodating.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds and location are excellent.
Enjoyed Least:
The interiors need to be spruced up a bit as far as condition and cleanliness. Did not have any English speaking station on the TV.
Surrounding Area:
All of Tuscany is wonderful. Cortona being so close.
Directions:
Easy to find once familiar with the area.

Overall:
Our week seemed like a day. We couldn't believe it was over and would love to go back.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa was spacious and well appointed. The grounds were well kept and beautiful. The restaurant was very good, as far as food quality and service.
Enjoyed Least:
Our villa had a smokey smell due to someone before us using the fireplace. It took a few days for this to clear.
Surrounding Area:
The proximity to Cortona was a definite plus. The town is small, people are very friendly. We drove up almost every night we were there to eat or just people-watch.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was not walkable, but was only a short drive up the hill.
Tips or Restaurants:
There were several restaurants in the town and we didn't have a bad meal. Prices were moderate, even with the dollar being low compared to the Euro.

Overall:
I will definitely go back and refer other people. Great place for a wedding.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is fabulous! The grounds and the pool exceeded our expectations. It is extremely well located for touring the region. The staff is friendly and helpful. The apartment itself was large and quite charming. Fans were provided and were necessary. The restaurant was good, breakfast was quite nice.
Enjoyed Least:
We left the property very clean, but were still charged for cleaning.
Surrounding Area:
It is beautiful country.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town is Camuccia, probably within walking distance. The nearest famous town is Cortona, about 5 kilometers up hill and not walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
Cory's Restaurant, north of Cortona is outstanding. Really good formal dining in Cortona was Tonino's. Excellent casual was Fuflan's.

Rita, July, 2006

Overall:
We would gladly come again and hope to visit this property again. It was truly a glorious vacation.
Enjoyed Most:
The beauty of the grounds, the flowers and the private aspect of each villa. The expansiveness of the property and grounds gave you a certain privacy and ambience. The pool was outstanding. The proximity to Cortona was fabulous; it was a great anchor spot to travel around Tuscany. The staff were wonderful and very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
The hot water seemed to fluctuate a bit while in the shower at times, it was not a major problem though. The upper villa was a bit noisy when moving furniture about. Again, a very small issue that would not prevent us from coming back again and again.
Surrounding Area:
The closeness to many hill towns and sites that we were interested in. These short drives 20-90 minutes away led us to many adventures and few crowds even during July and August. We were also able to get to Florence by car and Rome by train for day trips. The food was fabulous and there were many wonderful choices for restaurants for our family. We took a local cooking class and that was great, I would highly recommend it.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Camucia was the nearest and we could walk into town. There was a back way into Cortona which we could have braved by walking a few miles straight up hill, but we didn't. We did the walking once we drove up into Cortona. The trek to the fortress and St. Margherita was a good workout!
Tips or Restaurants:
You really have almost everything you need at the villa. We really appreciated the towel and linen change during our 2 week stay. The laundry was great and worked very efficiently. The front desk staff were great and very helpful. We enjoyed great restaurants in every town. We loved the restaurants in the heart of Arezzo.
Directions:
Driving in Italy is a challenge. We got a bit confused on the directions after getting off the A-1. The staff were helpful in getting us on track. We had a motto from the trip - We're not lost, we're in Italy. It was all part of the adventure.
Check In Out:
Very well done. We arrived a bit early and our villa was ready. Christine showed us everything. We needed an extra bed for the first week and it was provided.

Teresa, August, 2005

Enjoyed Most:
The grounds are very attractive; the swimming pool great; Internet hookup in lobby worked; staff friendly and attentive.
Enjoyed Least:
Patio tables and chairs could use upgrading. Would be nice if there were new linens more than once a week, and supplies. We were told to buy our own toilet paper when it ran out!!. Would rather they charged a bit more for the room and provided more simple amenities.
Surrounding Area:
Close to major highway; close to small town; rural and pretty. Cortona a fun and interesting place; Camucia has all the facilities.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona and Camucia not walking distance but close enough
Tips or Restaurants:
Fantastic restaurant, very expensive, really close and associated with a fancy resort - name escapes me. but front desk will know it.

Robertson, June, 2005

Enjoyed Most:
The pool was beautiful. The property was very close to Cortona.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. The town is a 5 minute drive, but not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Hostaria la Bucaccia in Cortona is wonderful. A family owned restaurant with great atmosphere. There is a hotel and concierge associated with the property. The concierge is very helpful in making reservations and explaining the surrounding area. The hotel staff does recommend taking the train to Florence and surrounding areas; however we did not find it hard to drive or find parking in most towns. Just be careful not to drive into the guarded city centers. Also, for a few extra Euro you can eat breakfast at the hotel. The town of Montepulciano is definitely worth a visit.
Directions:
Keep your eyes open for the sign.

Wendy, May, 2005

Enjoyed Most:
Location, view, physical beauty of the grounds and the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Towel change is just once mid-week, and would have liked them changed every day. Also, kitchen should have some basic supplies, like dishwasher soap and papertowels.
Surrounding Area:
Geographic proximity to many beautiful towns
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. Yes, but walking to and back is only for the very fit. It's an uphill hike.
