- Location Description
-
This apartment is located on Rue des Deux Ponts on the Ile Saint Louis – the heart of Paris. This discreet, self-contained island is one of the most enchanting places to stay in Paris. Delightfully unspoiled, it has a mixture of handsome 17th century architecture, modern boutiques, narrow streets, and magnificent views from its tree-lined quays. Many houses on this little island were built for noble families. Today you can find a baroque church, old-fashioned bistros, and delectable chocolate and food shops. There are also a variety of neighborhood restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlors, antique shops, art galleries, and more shops selling flowers, pastries, cheese, and tea. Bordered on all sides by the Seine, the Ile Saint Louis has a cozy village feel. However, many of the most popular sites in Paris are just a short walk away, including Notre-Dame, Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie, the Place des Vosges and Le Marais. The “Ile” is the perfect base from which to explore the St Germain area and the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank and the smaller quieter streets of the chic Le Marais neighborhood on the Right Bank.
Nearby Attractions:The city of Paris! Explore Paris on foot to find the hidden treasures of the city of light. Unknown too many are the Beehives of the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg – hit the beehives at the right time in the fall and you’ll be able to purchase the honey. The popular cocktail bar, Les Etages, has two “branches”, one located in the Marais; the other in St Germain. The covered market, Marche St.-Quentin, dates back to 1860, and has 30 plus stalls of mouth- watering cheese, baked goods, meats and more. La Perlerie is a tiny store offering bronze and silver bracelet and necklace charms and you can assemble your jewelry right in the store. For some of the best steak frites of Paris, stop by Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, known simply as l’Entrecôte, but expect a wait of at least a half-hour.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
Perfect. Exactly what we were looking for in an apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Location. Location.
Enjoyed Least:
Is was, however, right on a thru street for the island. As a result, lots of traffic noise.
Surrounding Area:
Everything we wanted was within walking distance: wine store, bakery, grocery store, cheese shop, and a dozen+ quaint restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
It sat in the center of Paris. Everything was within walking distance. That's why we chose it.
Tips or Restaurants:
An umbrella in April.

Overall:
We loved the location, the convenience of having a "home away from home", the neighborhood. Arnaud Loisin, the man who met us and checked us in was full of good suggestions and tips about where to find things. We were provided with all sorts of phone numbers in case there were problems or questions.
Enjoyed Most:
The location on the Ile St Louis was perfect. After a busy day, it was wonderful to come back to the "relative" quiet of our apartment. There was a bakery, a cheese shop, a wine store and two little groceries within a block. There were several wonderful, small restaurants within the same two block area, and we did all our shopping right there as well! And the best part was that we could walk everywhere.
Enjoyed Least:
Really, nothing. The "view" from the living room windows was of the street, but that was typical.
Surrounding Area:
The Ile St. Louis is delightful, and a perfect location for exploring Paris on foot. Our favorite brasserie overlooked the back of Notre Dame cathedral. There were street musicians playing typical French music. We could walk a block to the bridge to the left bank and witch the Eiffel Tower light up at night. The restaurants on the Ile were small, very French, and the food was wonderful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed in Paris except for a day trip to Giverny (50 miles outside Paris).
Tips or Restaurants:
ENJOY!! We particularly liked Le Flore en l'Ile brasserie, Cafe Med, and Sens'o, but every restaurant we tried was charming.
Directions:
We made arrangements through RentVillas for a car to pick us up (there were four of us) at De Gaulle and bring us in to the city, and then pick us up and take us back at the end of our stay. It worked like clockwork.
Check In Out:
It all went very well.

The wonderful restaurants, bakeries, specialty shops in the immediate area. It is an ideal location.

It is in the heart of Paris. Everything is in walking distance.
