    Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. I would recommend the property.
    Enjoyed Most:
Very clean and inviting. Plenty of character and many places to sit and enjoy.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
Night time was surprisingly noisy for being so remote. Between frogs, birds and barking dogs in the middle of the night, it was sometimes challenging to sleep.
    Surrounding Area:
Peaceful driving and many things to see within 1-1.5 hours drive. In the immediate area of the villa, walking, running, biking around the surrounding wheat fields was particularly enjoyable for many members of our group.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
There is a small town within walking distance, but it does not provide more than a few bakery items and it sells out fast. Besalu and Banyoles are a quick drive away and provide any necessary provisions. Remember that groceries are closed on Sunday.
    Tips or Restaurants:
    Nothing really....just explore
    Check In Out:
Sara was excellent. A word to the wise however. You will get Sara's cell number, but without a phone in the villa or cell phone, it is not particularly convenient to reach her. So, bring a GSM cell phone with you.

    Enjoyed Most:
The location was ideal. Close enough to do day trips to outerlying cities. We also liked the many areas of the house where you could sit, relax, read, eat and play. We utilized all of them! It was a beautiful trip and too short at just one week.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
We used the kitchen a lot and found it to be under stocked of essential pots and pans and the proper utensils to use, especially for non-stick pans. Also, there was no corkscrew opener in the house. We purchased one and left it for future guests. There was no bar soap or extra toilet paper - except for the one roll in each bathroom. Also, I don't know if it's been fixed or not, but the dryer door wasn't closing properly so we had to jam a broom stickmop against it to keep it closed so the clothes would dry. The lighting in the kitchen could use improvement; it's pretty dark even with the halogen and lamp on.
    Surrounding Area:
The lovely nearby cities were fantastic. We especially loved Besalu which we were lucky enough to be present for the St. John holiday and fireworks display to help celebrate Mid-Summer Night's Eve. So much fun! Another of our favorite cities was Girona which we visited twice. It felt like the Florence of Catalunya. We had the best tapas there at Zampanzar. We also bought all the food for our final dinner at the various specialty shops...Jamon serrano and leg of lamb, vegetables, wine and the best breads. And shopping was great along the main street, lots of fashionable clothing stores and the best gelato at Dino's.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town of Serinya was great. We visited it four or five times. Totally within walking distance - it took us about 15 minutes from the house and we found the wonderful panaderia bakery where we bought terrific bread and pastries. We also had some coffeee-xpresso at the local hangout and bought sausages at the meat store. We needed charcoal to barbecue and found it at the local supermarket. It is a nice walk through a peaceful neighborhood and the people were so friendly. Everyone says, Bon dia.br> Tips or Restaurants:
If you can, enjoy a delicious meal at Curia Real in Besalu. You will get a typical Catalan meal and everything on the menu is good. We took a party of 10 to dinner and ordered appetizers, salads and main dishes and everyone said their's was the best. The waitresses are very knowledgeable and helpful in choosing wines to go with your dinner too. If you need a break from cooking, let Sara order you a meal from the local catering ladies who really do a fantastic job. We had an arrival day buffet delivered an hour after we got to the house on Saturday and it was gourmet and fabulous. Salmon in a pastry shell with feta cheese and spinach, a chicken aspic, a greek salad, couscous with roasted veggies, and a fruit flan. If you're travelling with kids, they'll love the basketball hoop and the bocce and the ping-pong table. We also brought a Frisbee for use at the house and when we visited other towns so the boys could take a break and play at the parks.
    Check In Out:
Contacting Sara early by email to approximate our arrival time was a godsend. We happened to be early and she was there and waiting.

    Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful grounds and setting, particularly the rear yard and pool area.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing in particular. It was very much what we expected. Most of the bathrooms did not have enough towels and places to hang things. Also, the kitchen could be better equipped for serving large groups with larger serving and cooking pieces.
    Surrounding Area:
Besalu. We found that it was a delightful surprise and a beautiful little picturesque medieval town. We went there several times for dinner or lunch etc.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
Serinya was the nearest but there was not much there. We preferred Besalu and it is far enough that one has to drive. However, our daughter who lives in Zurich and her fiance rode their bikes occationally.
    Tips or Restaurants:
We liked the Terrasso restaurant and bar in Besalu. Beautiful setting outdoors on the terrace etc., and very good food and wine. Bring or buy candles if you plan to dine at the villa.
