- This modern Greece holiday villa on Crete combines comfort, style, and an awesome pool! Spend your days lounging out of doors at this Greek island villa for rent, or get your group together for some exploration. From Rethymnon to Heraklion and all of the ancient villages in between, you'll have plenty to do and see along this amazing island coast.
- Exterior Description
- This modern villa is surrounded by 4000m2 of gardens planted with fruit trees, olive trees, and flowers. Outdoor amenities include a swimming pool (70m2) and a basketball area. The villa is 1 km from the village of Asteri and 14 km east of Rethymnon. Stavromenos, the nearest sandy beach, is 2.5km away. There are also tavernas, a small grocery shop, and other shops within 2 km. The renowned monastery of Arkadi is 8 km away. A rental car is required. Parking is available on the premises. There is a remote controlled entrance gate. The local property representative will meet you at a prearranged place and guide you to the villa.
- Interior Description
- (290m2) Three floors.
Ground floor: There is a storage room with a washing machine and a studio which is not used. An external staircase leads to the first floor.
First floor: There is a central split level living area with open fireplace, TV, and dining area. The built-in kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher. Both rooms open onto the villa's terraces. There is one twin-bedded room (beds 2m x 0.90cm) and one bathroom with shower. An internal staircase leads to the second floor.
Second floor: There are three bedrooms: one twin-bedded room (beds 2m x 0.90cm) and two double bedrooms (beds 2m x 1.50m). The three bedrooms share one spacious bathroom with corner Jacuzzi tub. All windows are equipped with screens. Two of the bedrooms have access to a veranda with sea view.

- Available amenities: housekeeping (twice weekly), heating, washing machine, and TV.
Extra services: extra housekeeping (10 Euros for 1 hour; 30 Euros for 4 hours; 50 Euros for 8 hours) and cook service.

Overall:
The property is quite beautiful and being able to pick fruit was a novel experience. Ask the owner about restaurants and anything else that comes to mind even a mojito recipe! He is very helpful and knows a lot about the area.
Enjoyed Most:
The property has a great swimming pool and garden filled with fruits and flowers. Very nice to go out in the morning and pick tomatoes and lemons for the salad.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Although quite beautiful, the garden attracts lots of common houseflies that are very aggressive. Also, since the garden is high maintenance, at least one person arrives every day to do something which makes the property less private and less peaceful. Also, there is a dog caged on the property that barks all day and night, and hens and a cock in the backyard that wake you up very early in the morning. You get used to those after a while, though.
Surrounding Area:
The whole area is very beautiful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town is Asteri, and it is within a walking distance. In the evenings it is best to have a flashlight because it gets dark very fast and the cars won't see you without it.
Tips or Restaurants:
Future renters should bring something to keep away the flies. The mosquitoes were almost non-existent but the houseflies were a bother.
There is a great place by the beach called River Taverna. They serve good food and there are usually few people sunbathing there so you can always be sure to get space. Driving inland you can find many local restaurants that are quite nice, but try to dine after ten as the locals do. It is a lot more fun.
