This apartment is located near the village of Costafabbri, just 5 km from the center of historical Siena. It is also about ten minutes' drive from the main Superstrada linking Siena to Florence. This is a convenient and easy way to get around the Tuscan hill towns, most of which are within a radius of about an hours' drive. You're bound to spend lots of time wandering around Siena, enjoying the local atmosphere. This picturesque city is a wonderfully preserved example of the Tuscan Middle Ages, and a treasure trove of gothic palaces, churches, and museums. It's also well known for its exiting bi-annual bareback horse races, the Palio, held on July 2 and August 16. Because this estate is affiliated with a four-star hotel just outside of Siena, about 10 minutes' drive from the property, you are free to use the English-speaking reception services during your stay. There are also computers with internet access in the reception area. As parking in central Siena is often sparse, it is possible to park at the hotel and take a bus number six into the center of town. Bus tickets can be purchased at the hotel reception. You may also decide to take a day trip to San Gimignano, known for its ancient towers and rich history dating back to Etruscan times. And naturally you must see Florence! Take a bus or ride the train for a day trip into the world-famous city of art and culture. Shop for jewelry on the Ponte Vecchio, marvel at Michelangelo's David, and tour the treasures of the Uffizi Gallery. With all there is to see and do, don't forget to spend an hour or two relaxing with a cappuccino in one of the squares before heading home.

This accommodation is situated within a small complex of 10 charming villas and apartments. The property is in a peaceful position and has extensive views over the typical Tuscan style hills with their olive groves and vineyards. All residences share a well tended garden and an equipped swimming-pool (8m x15m) with toilets, shower and barbecue. Each accommodation also has its own reserved parking space.

(80 m2) Ground Floor: This small detached farmhouse is situated within the gardens of the main villa. Three steps up lead inside, where you will find a large living room. The kitchen has a dining area and is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven, and gas cook-top.
Lower Ground Floor: Going downstairs you will find two bedrooms, one with a 170 cm queen-size bed and the other with two single beds. There are two bathrooms, each with a sink, toilet, and shower. This villa also has a veranda with a table and barbecue for al fresco dining.

Enjoyed Most:
The view, the pool, the serenity. Also, the villa was exactly what I expected--it was described very well in the on-line information.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The unappealing box-like exterior of the villa. Which ceased to bother us after the first five minutes. Also, the driveway leading into the property is rutted--a real bone-rattler--but again, minor in light of the joys of the place.
Surrounding Area:
The fact that there were many little towns to visit. The meandering roads through gorgeous scenery.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Costafabbri. It was within walking distance, but you'd be taking your life in your hands, given how curvy and narrow the roads were.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa was very, very comfortable, but I found the pillows uncomfortable. I'm a down-pillow devotee. It never occurred to me to ask the villa owner for replacements, but she was so accommodating, I'll bet she would have found some for us. Also, those things recommended on the website were good suggestions, but they do seem to have acquired a sharp knife and cutting board. Get a GPS for your car, and make sure you have a working cell phone.

Overall:
We only wish that we could have spent more time at the villa and some day come back for 2 weeks so that we can soak up the Tuscan sun and enjoy the atmosphere.
Enjoyed Most:
The spectacular view that we woke up to each morning. We hated to leave for the day and some days we just lingered until the afternoon to enjoy the spectacular view.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing, we hope to return some day!
Surrounding Area:
The proximity of the two local restaurants which no matter how late into the evening, invited us in to dine. The food was excellent and very reasonable.
Tips or Restaurants:
Osteria Il Cantuccio in the little town of Costafabbri - Nilo, the owner was wonderful and prepared us an unforgettable dinner. Loved his homemade Limoncello! Also La Capanna Dei Cavalieri which was nearby had wonderful food for reasonable prices.
Directions:
We found it with no problems.
Check In Out:
Upon check in - check out was not too clear but no problem, we just locked the villa and turned our keys in to the owners.

Enjoyed Most:
Private location with great vineyard views along with views of the surrounding Tuscan hills - all only a short distance to Siena, plus easy access to highway leading to the majority of Tuscany. Plenty of room for two couples. Had a wonderful two-week stay.
Unpleasant Surprises:
An electric outlet in kitchen would help, plus instructions on how to use the washing machine. Otherwise, nothing at all.
Surrounding Area:
Enjoyed every day in Tuscany - rain or shine. Could not have picked a better location to use as a base for our two-week stay. Siena is in the middle of everything worthwhile seeing in Tuscany.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Hamlet near the villa, Costafabbri, wonderful. Great shop owners in the center.
Very friendly and helpful. Would suggest having a car. A must for visiting all the surrounding Tuscan hill towns within an hour of Siena.
Tips or Restaurants:
Fly into Florence. New international airport makes getting into Tuscany a lot easier. Bring a GSM cell phone with you. Makes life a lot easier. Villa is remote.
Check In Out:
Owner could not have been any more accommodating.
