About The Experience
Become a part of a hamlet with this villa rental near Lucca, great for a family or friends traveling together. Whether you're relaxing at this Tuscany holiday villa or exploring the surrounding area, you'll never be bored. On-site, you'll have access to the enormous shared swimming pool, the gym, and even a Turkish bath! And since this villa is near Lucca-- within a few minutes' drive-- you will have a gorgeous medieval city to explore.
Location Description
This villa complex is located in the hills surrounding Lucca, in a beautiful position. It is close to Pieve Santo Stefano, where there are two excellent restaurants. Lucca is worth enjoying simply for its medieval charm, but there are also a number of interesting sights to visit, as well as a great antique market held on the third Sunday of each month. The Duomo di San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Foro are both gorgeous examples of period architecture, while the Casa di Puccini, where the composer was born, has been transformed into a small museum in his honor. You can also climb the 130 foot Torre Guinigi, but on the other hand viewing the tree-topped tower from below might be just as enjoyable… and a lot less work! Also nearby is the town of Pisa, famed of course for its less-than-level tower, and along the coast to the north you'll run into Pietrasanta and the marble town of Carrara. Florence is also certainly within day trip distance, as there are frequent trains passing Lucca in that direction.
Florence: 85 km
Carrara: 60 km
Pietrasanta: 35 km
Pisa: 30 km
Lucca: 5 km

    Customer Reviews

    Overall:
Amazing! Wonderful! A dream! We had invited friends to join us and I was initially nervous about the property - not having been there before and due to the fact that I based my decision on Internet photos. But it was beautiful to say the least, the owners were great. Unbelievable - services, amenities, etc. No complaints.
    Enjoyed Most:
The common room and the pool. The common room made the stay over the top. We had a lot of teenagers with us and we all enjoyed hanging out together in the common room -- a major bonus. We spent most of our time together in the common room had dinner made for us a few times. There were times when the kids just wanted to hang out in the villa instead of doing touristy things -- they just enjoyed the whole villa experience. Did I say it was a beautiful villa? The location was also very good. 30 minutes from the international airport in Pisa, 10 minutes down to Lucca and train stations. Within a few hours drive to the coast and Cinque Terre, San Gimignano, wine country, 80-minute train ride to Florence -- good central location for where we wanted to go.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
I wish we had had Internet access -- but not too bad as we were minutes away from Internet cafes down in Lucca.
    Surrounding Area:
Everything! The scenery was unbelievable - view of Lucca from the pool. The entire property was beautiful and well managed. We could easily go to a few nearby restaurants. We went for short walks.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
Lucca. One could walk down to Lucca 7-10 miles away if necessary but we drove down instead. It was very nice to have a town nearby that was close enough, yet far enough. We drove down there to shop, walk around, bike around, have dinner. We also drove down to Lucca to catch the train to Florence, etc. Very convenient.
    Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants near the property were great. We recommend hiring the chefs or even the pizza guy to prepare a meal or two for your group. The property had everything we needed, and anything else we could easily buy in Lucca. You will need to rent a car as you are a little secluded which is great - we enjoyed the privacy. Enjoy the property, get to know the owners, just appreciate the fact that you are having the experience of a lifetime.
    Directions:
As good as they could be. Directions provided by the owners and Rentvillas were very good considering it really isn't that easy to find the landmarks. We had a GPS and we used it extensively. Our friends were not as successful with their GPS. Several had gotten lost driving from Pisa to Lucca. Our family had no problems I think it's because my son is a very good navigator and astute in observing landmarks and surroundings - so I lucked out!. There were a few misadventures esp driving in the towns as the GPS was not quite accurate -- but just look at it as an adventure. Enjoy everything, even the mishaps.
    Check In Out:
Easy -- owners who live on the property were great to deal with. Very hospitable, very warm, very helpful. We were very lucky!
