This family-friendly apartment is located in the Chianti on a large estate that produces its own wine. The Tuscany estate is surrounded by olive groves, rolling hills, and vineyards that create a peaceful atmosphere. You and your group can take day trips throughout the Chianti to such charming towns as Panzano, Castellina, Gaiole and Greve, as well as to the art cities of Florence and Siena. Or you can simply relax by the pool!

The property is located four kilometers from Panzano, a charming village that began as a medieval castle but is now home to shops and restaurants, among which is the butcher shop and restaurant run by the famous Dario Cecchini. A morning market is held every Sunday where you’ll be able to get flowers, vegetables, fruit, meet, and cheese. The “Vino al Vino” wine festival is held in September while the “Festa della Stagion Buona” begins in late April where the people of Panzano dress up in medieval costumes and put on live performances. For a fun day trip with wine tasting, visit Greve, which is the unofficial wine capital of Chianti. This medieval town is believed to have been settled before the Etruscans and the Romans dominated the area. Each September, Greve hosts the biggest wine festival in the region. It’s also famous for its arcaded Piazza Mercatale that has a statue of the 16th century explorer Verrazzano in the center. Other day trips can include Florence and Siena.

This 13th century farmhouse is comprised of six apartments which are surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and woods. A seventh apartment is independent from the others. Each apartment has a private patio that is furnished with a table and chairs. There is a shared swimming pool (12m x 6m) surrounded by a sun deck with sun loungers, chairs, and umbrellas. Parking is available within the property grounds.

Security Deposit
- Upon arrival at the property you are required to pay to the property representative a security deposit payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you prior to your departure minus any extra charges or accidental damages to the property. The listed security deposit is: 150 EUR

- Final cleaning charge per person: 21 EUR

- Extra maid service is usually available upon request and is paid locally.
- If available, heating is allowed by Italian law only from November 1 to April 1 with exceptions made for extreme weather
- If you arrive outside of the acceptable arrival times you will be charged a late arrival fee
- Clients are expected to depart the property by 9:00 am, unless otherwise indicated.
- If available, cook service must be arranged at least two months prior to arrival and is subject to the availability of the cook.

Overall:
We loved the villa and would highly recommend it. We were greeted warmly and experienced no problems at all.
Enjoyed Most:
The location - the property is located with a view of the vineyards, and the sweet smell of the olive trees and ripe grapes greeted us each time we arrived back from a day of discovering the many small towns in the Chianti area.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Only minor issue was that it was slightly chilly in the evenings since it is a stone structure, and the bathroom could be a little more traveler-friendly, i.e. shelves or more storage.
Surrounding Area:
Locally owned restaurants in small towns, markets in the town square on weekends.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Panzano was close, but not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found the info we received from Rent Villas to be very helpful and prepared us well for travel and stay in Italy. Bring hand wipes just in case public toilets don't have paper towels and warm socks if you visit in the fall - stone floors can be cold. Great restaurant in Greve in Chianti - Gallo Nero, wonderful food and service.
Directions:
You will definitely need a GPS or really, really good maps if you are driving yourself.

Overall:
We had a mixed experience. The setting is spectacular, with great views of vineyards, olive groves, undulating hillsides, etc. However, the remote location, though quiet at night was very loud early in the morning four of the mornings we were there, as we were woken up by wild boar hunting, with dogs barking, rifle shots and hunters yelling right outside our window.
Enjoyed Most:
The views!!! We also enjoyed two great afternoons at the pool. The tile floors and exposed beam ceilings matched the rustic charm of the units and added to the ambiance.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The beds were uncomfortable - the first night both my wife and I considered whether it might be more comfortable to sleep on the tile floor. While we got used to them, we didn't sleep very well.
The kitchen area was small and minimally equipped, no frying pan. While it worked OK for breakfasts, would not work well for dinners beyond basic pasta dishes.
Surrounding Area:
The scenery in this part of Tuscany is absolutely beautiful. The towns of Radda and Castellina were very charming. We biked to both; they are each about 10 miles from the apartment and found the drivers more considerate of us on bike than when we drove.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Panzano is a cute town, 4k away on a narrow, winding, hilly road. We lucked out arriving during the local wine festival and enjoyed tasting the local Chianti.
Tips or Restaurants:
Our meal at Osteria in La Piazza was fantastic, beautiful outside patio, excellent food and service.
The kitchen has no spices - bring salt and pepper.
Check In Out:
Minutes before we arrived the people who were renting no. 2 were inadvertently put in no. 4. The local agent was extremely apologetic and offered to move them to the correct unit but the man told us his wife was feeling sick and had already laid down for a nap. We were in the unfortunate position of having to be obnoxious jerks if we insisted on no 4. I don't think there was a material difference between the two units except that no 4 has a covered outdoor table and a second outdoor table with direct access.

Overall:
A truly memorable stay in Bella Italia! We had an absolutely wonderful stay in our villa in Panzano. So peaceful and picturesque eventhough it was early in spring and the grapevines were just budding out. The neighboring forest was home to a cuckoo - a real novelty for a North American to hear in the wild.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was ideal for exploring Tuscany and especially Chianti - midway between Florence and Siena. Spacious accomodations.
Unpleasant Surprises:The living room would benefit from more comfy chairs or a couch. Wish the weather had been conducive to enjoying the pool and its idyllic setting.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearby Panzano is a charming village boasting internationally famous restaurants owned and operated by butcher Dario Ciccione - don't miss out on the experience of dining at Solo Ciccia if you are a meat lover. The Sunday morning farmer's market is a must for stocking up on fresh local produce, cheeses and meats.
