    Overall:
Casa al Mare is beautiful - very private, quiet, nicely landscaped with lovely views and gorgeous sunsets. It also had wonderful amenities. It was clean, safe and well furnished. The pool was lovely, the outdoor spaces appealing and attractive, the outdoor dining table was great, the kitchen fantastic. We ate our lunches in restaurants for most days since we were usually out and about, but we cooked most dinner meals at home, and sat in in the garden or in the kitchen to eat.
    Enjoyed Most:
We were more than delighted that we had WiFi in the house, plus there was a great CD collection, a good size TV and a nice music system. Good (and multiple) bathrooms, a washing machine and outdoor drying racks. Early October is lovely and warm in Liguria - and though we had a few chilly, rainy days - by in large, we had great weather. Actually, it was a perfect time to be there. The moderate temperatures and mostly sunny weather made it more pleasant than the heat of midsummer.
    Enjoyed Least:
Mosquitoes and hard beds. There were no Satellite channels in English. And the BBQ was broken - so when we cooked, which was almost every night, we had to cook inside rather than on the grill. Not a deal breaker for sure!
    Surrounding Area:
Lerici offers everything necessary for a vacation - good restaurants with fabulous local seafood, shops, a lovely harbor, a castle, lots of hills to climb (we were in GREAT shape when we got home to the US from all the walking and climbing). There is a post office. There are regular (although many fewer in October) ferries to Portovenere and the rest of the Cinque Terre. If one were so inclined, you could walk for miles along the waterfront. We loved the walking.
    Tips or Restaurants:
On the few days when weather was an issue, our fabulous property manager helped us find "indoor" activities to enjoy -- like a trip to a local vineyard, Cantine Lunae Bosoni, that included a tasting and a tour through their museum. It was a fantastic adventure with lovely people and delicious wines (that we can buy in the states). The property manager also arranged a trip to a small local olive oil "factory" - where we tasted their oils and shipped some home. If we were staying longer, she could have arranged a cooking class for us too... but we really were off exploring someplace wonderful most days. Alessia is a gem!!
