This villa in Provence is located within walking distance of a small village of 200 residents, so as you enjoy a morning coffee from your stone terrace, you’ll be able to watch the hillside village begin its daily routine. Take the short walk to the village’s restaurant for a bite to eat and explore the 12th century church, or stay at home and play a round of the traditional French game petanque or splash around in the private pool. This villa has a fenced area for children to play in, and an indoor play room so it’s a good choice for families. And antique lovers take note: you’ll be close to one of France’s great antiquing destinations, Isle-sur-Sorgue, which boasts not only hundreds of antique shops but also a weekly antique fair.

Location Description

The Provencal villa is within walking distance of the village of Saumane de Vaucluse, which has about 200 residents, a 12th century church and a bar/restaurant. A few minutes away by car is Isle-sur-Sorgue, a magical town sits on the islands between five branches of the river Sorgue, which flows out of nearby Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. This gives the town a Venice-like appeal and although there are no gondolas, there are plenty of ancient waterwheels, some of which are still turning. In the center of the old town you can see the Notre Dame des Anges, built in 1222 and rebuilt in the 17th century. In addition to the scenery, there is also plenty of shopping to be had all around. Market days are Sunday and Thursday, and daily during the summer. The town is famous for its antiques, with over 300 antique shopes to explore and an antique market open on Sunday. Around Isle sur la Sorgue, there are many fascinating Provencal villages to explore, including Fontaine de Vaucluse, Cavaillon, Carpentras, and Chateaurenard. The nearest city is Avignon, a city is ringed by a medieval wall, inside of which you will find narrow, winding streets and ancient buildings filled with shops and restaurants. Avignon is easy to get in and out of by train.

This property is set on 2.5 acres of land with many olive trees. There is an infinity pool (10 x 4m) built into the rock face, whose water cascades into a lower pool area. There are multiple terraces, one that leads to the kitchen and dining room that is equipped with a barbeque and is ideal for al fresco dining. There is a children’s garden outside the indoor children’s playroom, which is fenced and flat. There’s also an area for playing petanque, and private parking for three cars.

Interior Description

Ground Floor: This villa is entered via one of its terraces. There is a living room with double doors opening onto the terrace, a fireplace, and seating. The dining room has a table and chairs for 10 guests, and a nearby library/office area. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, kettle, and toaster. There is a children’s playroom with some toys, a TV, and a DVD player, as well as access to a children’s garden area. There is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, and a guest bathroom with a sink and toilet.

First Floor: 16 winding steps lead up to this floor, which has 6 bedrooms, all which have fans. The first is a master bedroom with a queen size bed (160 cm) and an ensuite bathroom with an iron bathtub, a separate shower, twin sinks, and separate toilet. The second has twin beds. The third has a single trundle bed (90 cm) that can be pulled out to make twin beds, and en ensuite bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. The remaining three bedrooms have standard double beds of 140 cm wide (comfortable for one; cozy for two) and ensuite bathrooms with a shower, sink, and toilet.

Lower Level: This floor has a bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet, which is easily accessible from the pool area.
