Next to the Duomo in the town piazza, with this vacation rental in Taormina you can spend your mornings sitting outside a local café people-watching; when the mood strikes you, fold up your paper an join them in exploring the up-and-down streets of this characteristic Sicilian town. After lunch you'll be able to pop back into your Taormina apartment rental for a little snooze before heading back out, perhaps for an afternoon trip to the beach or another local town. We suggest making at least one pilgrimage to Mount Etna, looming in the background.

Located in the center of Taormina, this charming property rental is a perfect base from which to explore the city's fascinating history. The house is compact, neat and efficient and faces the Duomo and fountain in Sicily's most visited piazza. It is well-located for people-watching and enjoying the city center life. Messina, Catania, Mount Etna, and Syracuse make interesting day trips. The cable car, situated just outside the gates of the old city, transports passengers down to the sea level at Mazzarò, one of Taormina's most beautiful beaches. If you decide to arrive by train at the Taormina-Giardini station, you can then take a bus, which drops you off just outside of town. The uphill walk to the apartment from there takes about 15 minutes. Parking is available at two large parking lots on either side of town. Upon request, the landlord can get you a temporary parking permit, so that you can park in designated resident spaces.

Ground level: The entrance leads into the sitting/dining room. A corner of this main room functions as a small kitchen area equipped with stove, oven, and refrigerator. There is one bathroom with shower. Upper level: There is one double bedroom with double bed and a sitting room. The amenities include: one air conditioning unit, a TV, and a baby bed.

Overall:
The restaurant outside the window was very quiet and should not discourage anyone from renting the property. Other renters have commented about the noise - there was no noise in high season - it is low key and clean.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was great - in the heart of Taormina but in a quiet area.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Furnishings were very rustic and appeared thrown together without any thought. The property has great potential with just a little effort.
Surrounding Area:
Taormina offers great views, shopping, beaches, food, drinks, art museums.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant "Nero D'Avella" spelling? - is near the property and family-run - great food and wine offerings - the owner visits each table.

Overall:
The restaurant-wine bar next door opens around march 25, and my guess is it will be very noisy since the tables are a few feet from your front door and windows.

Kitchen. The sink was under the stairs, which meant that we bonked our heads a few times.

Overall:
The property is not the most luxurious, but the location is great. Parking was not a problem, since the owner lent us her permit. Lovely town. With ear plugs, you can sleep just fine.

Music from the adjoining restaurant playing playing all night into the early morning.

Beautiful town with great shopping, lovely houses and great beach.

Property is right in the middle of Taormina. You can purchase groceries from stores within a 10 minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring some ear plugs. Although there is music played throughout most nights, it is bearable, and for the location, it is still worthwhile. The apartment is well equipped.
