This Tuscany villa is located in the countryside just 3 km away from Arezzo, the setting for Roberto Benigni's "Life is Beautiful." Arezzo is a city characterized by a beautiful array of architectural styles, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheatre and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month features a popular antique fair, while annually the town hosts a festival called "Joust of the Saracens," where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire to watch "knights" charge at a target (representing the Saracen king). Arezzo also has a train station, convenient for accessing other cities in Tuscany. The location of this holiday home is also well situated to day trips throughout Tuscany, including nearby Cortona and Lake Trasimeno, as well as Florence and Siena.

Ancient villa dating back to the 16th century and like Villalta and San Fabiano, it makes up part of the San Fabiano estate, which is located at the gates of Arezzo. The villa has returned to its ancient splendour thanks to the attentive recent restoration personally carried out by the owner. The furnishings of superb quality, the comforts which it possesses, the swimming pool and the context in which it is located are all part of Palazzaccio; the ideal place for a completely relaxing holiday. Nearby is the Casentino with its castles and the Verna and Camaldoli hermitages.
LOCATION: 3 km Arezzo, 30 km Cortona and Lake Trasimeno, 50 km Perugia, 8 km horse riding, 0.6 km tennis courts, 35 km golf course, 75 km Florence airport.

Overall:
Loved it - this villa surpassed our expectations - we will return!
Enjoyed Most:
The villa is beautiful - very spacious and the bathrooms are extra nice. We hired the services of the chef for three nights each week - she is fabulous - the dinners she prepared were spectacular and a great deal for the cost.
Unpleasant Surprises:
It would be nice to have shower curtains for all the bathrooms - even the ones with tubs and no showers.
Surrounding Area:
Arezzo was great - very centrally located for reaching other cities via train. The surroundings of the villa are beautiful - also very handy to have the count's winery close at hand!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Arezzo - this is within walking distance for a seasoned walker, but I highly recommend having a car at your disposal.
Tips or Restaurants:
Future renters - bring extra toilet paper! Also - be sure to engage the services of Gabriella, the chef. Finally - be sure to buy some of the count's wonderful wine!
