This villa is located just 3.5 km from San Donato in Collina, a typical small Italian village with a bar, post office, and grocery shops in the center of town. San Donato is located in the Florentine hills, very close to the city itself. The majestic city of Florence is world-renowned for its art and culture. Go here to shop the Ponte Vecchio, marvel at the statue of David, step back in time at the Pitti Palace, or tour the wonders of the Uffizi Gallery. Of course, you could also simply relax in the Piazza della Signoria with a book or a refreshing drink. ...And might we also recommend climbing something tall, to take in the wonderful views? Of course you can also hop in the car and wander through the Chianti, tasting locally made wine and investigating many of the famed hill towns. Try Greve in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti. Day trips to other well-know Tuscan locales, such as Siena and San Gimignano, are also possible.

Overall:
We have rented villas in the past, however Villa Gialla and rentvillas.com surpassed our expectations. The owners and the staff were very accommodating; they offered suggestions on restaurants and wineries. All rooms were cleaned daily, which was unexpected.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything!
The location of the villa is great. During the day, we traveled to different regions of Tuscany, went back to the villa to take showers and drove or took the train into Florence for dinner less than a 30 minute drive. We were a large group and there was always sufficient hot water. We took advantage of the enormous kitchen and especially enjoyed the wood charcoal grill which is in the kitchen.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There is nothing negative about this property.
Surrounding Area:
We really enjoyed Lucca and Siena. We spent time exploring small towns in the region and touring Florence.
The 'Space' outlet was not as we expected and was not worth a stop. San Gimignano is a nice place to visit but we found it a bit too 'touristy'.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Donato is the closest town, some may be able to walk it but not us!. The people in San Donato are wonderful. The cafe in town, has not only great coffee and pastries, but incredible bread, cheese, salami. Rignano Sul'Arno which is about 15 minutes drive away has a large grocery store. The train to Florence departs from Rignano Sul'Arno and has ample parking, the ticket station is usually not open and we found that the kiosk did not always work, there were times that we had to get on the train without a ticket but did not encounter problems with the conductor.
Tips or Restaurants:
The food at the Nuovo Rancho which is about 2 miles from the property is very good and because of it's proximity to the villa, it is a nice place to go after a day 'touring' or visiting wineries.
Directions:
Directions were accurate. FYI - Credit cards can be used at all toll booths.

Enjoyed Most:
It was more beautiful than I had expected! Beautifully painted walls. More views than I expected. Very big rooms. Good swimming pool. Nice welcome. When we booked the villa, it said that "tidying up the rooms and final cleaning included". But the fact is they tidied up the whole house every day, not just the rooms! That was also a nice surprise.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Small refrigerators, information about where to shop was llacking, a lot of wasps at the swimming pool.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful landscape. and short distances to Florence, San Gimignano and other beautiful places
Nearby Events or Locales:
Le Corti was mabye 20- 30 minutes walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
It was nice to have a cook to come and do the dinner. The staff is very nice and friendly, they made the tables and cleaned after dinner. So it was a full service with desert and coffee and everything. I did not know that when I ordered the food so that was a nice surprise. Future guests that do not speak any Italian should try to get more information beforehand, about the area, the service etc.
Directions:
I had a navigation system so I wouldn't know.
Check In Out:
I was very nice to have red wine, bread, ham and fruits waiting for us when we got there

Overall:
We were a large group, approximately 17 people, and this villa definitely met our needs. Most of the bedrooms had en-suite baths. The plumbing was excellent as was the frequency of water.
It was wonderful getting together outside on the patio outside of the kitchen area after dinner to drink wine and converse about our day. The night, as well as the day view, was spectacular.
The caretakers were wonderful, and had included our family to join them at a local festa which was wonderful. We got to get a flavor of the local fare which included food vendors, and a wine tasting, not to mention live entertainment!!
The grounds and the pool were well kept, and cared for daily.
The entire family enjoyed our stay at the villa and I would highly recommend this villa to anyone.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular!!
The caretakers at the villa were extremely helpful. They really overextended themselves.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Could not find anything negative about the property.
Surrounding Area:
The villa was centrally located and very close to the train station to Florence. Since we were a large group, we were able to spend most of the day visiting other towns and coming back to the villa to compare experiences of our day.
There was a local bar/restaurant that was within walking distance if you cared to take the walk which was wonderful. The owner and his wife were extremely friendly and recommended a local winery close by.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You definitely needed a car to get to the nearest small town.
At the end of the road to the right was S Donato in Collina, and to the left brought you to Rignano where the train station was.
Tips or Restaurants:
The closest restaurant to the villa was Nuovo Ranch and it was fabulous!! The food served was anywhere from Pizza to Wild Boar. Anything that we had eaten there was phenomenal!!
Even closer to the villa was Bar Ema which was a small eatery, very local, which served pannini, pizza and hamburgers. The espresso and cappucino were great, and the owner, Lucca, was very friendly.
Directions:
The directions were very clear. The only problem that we had was which direction on A1 to follow after leaving the Florence airport.
Check In Out:
Unfortunately, we were severely delayed in Paris, and did not arrive in Florence until 7pm. I was able to call a representative to let them know that we were delayed.
There wasn't any problem since we didn't arrive at the villa until 8:30pm due to issues at the airport with lost luggage.
The caretaker was very gracious and waited for us to arrive. On the kitchen table were sandwiches and a bottle of their local wine. It was a wonderful greeting after the long and arduous flight that we had just gone through.
