With a lush garden that looks out onto the rooftops of Positano and the Mediterranean Sea, this Amalfi Coast holiday rental is a perfect choice for a couple or a family of four seeking close proximity to town, with an easy walk into the center of Positano.
- Location Description
This house is located in an ideal spot on the Amalfi Coast, just above the heart of Positano. Situated below street level, the property is accessible by 56 steps. It is within walking distance of the center of town, where guests will find restaurants, bars, a grocery store, fashionable boutiques, boat rentals, banks, and public transportation. Buses service all nearby villages. Hydrofoils depart daily for Capri, Amalfi, Sorrento (train service to Naples), and Ischia. There is an airport in both Naples and Rome. Blue SITA busses cost about 1-2 euros, depending on destination. Stops are marked with a blue and white SITA sign. The small internal bus (orange mini-bus) of Positano is marked by a brown FERMATA sign. Driving times are: Ravello to Amalfi, 15 minutes; Amalfi to Positano, 30 minutes; Positano to Sorrento, 35 minutes.
Nearby Attractions: The neighboring villages of Ravello (21.4 km), Sorrento (16 km), and Amalfi (15 km) are all lovely to visit. The resort islands of Capri and Ischia are a short boat ride away. Two nearby beaches are Spaiggia Beach (900 m) and Fornillo Beach (1800 m).

- Exterior Description
- 56 steps down from the street level. This lovely house is divided into two apartments, one on the top floor (Casa Luna), and the other on the lower level (Casa Mare). Casa Mare has a private entrance, but it can also be connected by an internal staircase to Casa Luna. Combined, Casa Luna and Casa Mare can sleep eight people. There is a lovely garden that runs the full length of the property; it is planted with hibiscus, roses, citrus, and geraniums. Casa Mare's large garden is equipped with a shaded area and dining table, and it has wonderful views of the Marina Grande, Galli Island, and Positano.
- Interior Description
- (220 m2) Casa Mare is exquisitely furnished with antiques. The dining room, sitting room, and master bedroom have traditional vaulted ceilings and terracotta floors. All three rooms have glass doors that open to face the ocean and the garden.
Ground Floor: The entrance leads through the garden and into a small sitting area. A curtain divides the sitting room from a lovely master bedroom with a queen-size bed. There is a bathroom (with shower) near the bedroom. There is another, larger sitting/dining room to the right of the entrance. There are several steps leading up to the mezzanine level.
Mezzanine Level: 12 steps. There is a small bedroom with two twin-beds and an ensuite bathroom (with shower). This bedroom is ideally suited to children. Though small, the kitchen is fully equipped, and it has access to the garden.

Q: We are staying in Positano and have heard that there is a place to rent cars. But we can't seem to find any information about this on line. Does anyone have any information about this?
A: We rented a car from the airport in Naples. But we didn't use it very much around Positano since everything is in walking distance and the apartment is right on the water with stunning views. There are also many taxis and if you are driving, just know it's a bit treacherous (a lot of crazy motor cyclists and scooters) and if you are afraid of heights.....don't drive. Have fun! -Joan
