Customer Reviews

Overall:
I liked the property so much that I really didn't want to leave it much. I preferred spending the day at the villa to sightseeing and to the beach. The owners were very hospitable.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool and the landscaping. The grounds are beautiful.
Unpleasant Surprises:
I don't really have any negative comments.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting Ronda and Jerez. My wife went to one or two of the hilltop towns, but I elected to stay home with kids because I wanted to RELAX. And that I did.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just ask the owner anything and you'll get the real story. He suggested Casa Miguel to us, and we enjoyed our meal there. It wasn't fancy, but we didn't want fancy. Actually I strongly recommend bringing a hand-held GPS. Spain in general is hard to navigate and I'm an experienced traveler.
Check In Out:
The owner was very reasonable. We broke a glass or two and some other accessories in the bathroom, and he didn't charge us. An outdoor umbrella also blew over and was damaged while we were using it, and he didn't charge us for that either. A good guy.

Overall:
The owners could not have been more helpful. They made us feel welcome and special. I think this is a lovely spot and would be happy to recommend it to others.
Enjoyed Most:
Very well equipped, beautiful location, quiet, great hosts, for English speaking travelers a great bonus.
Unpleasant Surprises:
I didn't like parking, turning around at the top of hill and parking on the hill.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access, friendly people, close to beach and town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona - not really in walking distance but not far.
Tips or Restaurants:
I can't think of a thing that was not provided. Even books for readers, DVDs, CDs, etc were available. Perhaps if they wish a laptop but I was glad to leave mine behind.
Directions:
A little tricky but we phoned the owner and he guided us in.
Check In Out:
We arrived later than planned as we miscalculated the travelling time. We were very tired when we finally arrived and the owner could not have made us more welcome. checking out was like saying good bye to old friends - lovely.

Overall:
Its a great place and I would highly recommend it.
Enjoyed Most:
The owners were great hosts, and the property is very livable and comfortable -- just the sort of place I like. They were thoroughly prepared for visitors and made available a binder that they had created filled with information.
Unpleasant Surprises:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
Great location for exploration of some great sights. We traveled a good deal using this as a base, and it was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The beach is walking distance; the port isn't really-- it would be a rather long walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owner is an excellent source for restaurants. We especially liked La Menorah, though its a little pricey. Swing is also good. The Thai restaurant at the port is cheap and good.

Enjoyed Most:
The privacy, views, ease, and safety of the property. The on-site owners who were gracious hosts. Ah, yes, and the pool. We appreciated that we could borrow CDs and DVDs. We enjoyed the BBC TV channels. The ping pong table and board games were fun, too. Being able to use the clothes washer was very helpful.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We thought long and hard about this one, but came up with nothing about the property that we found negative. About the surrounding area -- driving through some very narrow streets, not very good street signs or no street signs, difficulty finding a parking space. When paying to park, keep the ticket that you get when you enter the garage with you and pay using the automatic pay stations before you exit.
Surrounding Area:
Recommend driving to the ruins near Bolonia, walking in the old town Estepona, and taking tours to Gibraltar and Tangier, Morocco with the tour group VDT. Get tickets from Benamar travel agency on main road in Estepona. Request pickup in front of Hotel Elba so that you can walk to the pickup spot.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You need to drive to Estepona and pay to park. You can walk to the beach in about 5 minutes -- just walk down the street and across the pedestrian bridge and you are there.
Tips or Restaurants:
The hosts created a book for the villa that provides excellent tips on surrounding restaurants and day trips.
Directions:
We recommend flying into Gibraltar. The small airport was very convenient. It was easy to walk to pick up the rental car in Spain and then drive to the villa in 40 minutes.
Check In Out:
We got a very helpful "orientation" tour of the villa, room by room, and of the grounds and common areas.
