This Crete villa near Plakias is great for a family getaway. With a stone barbecue and a private swimming pool, you'll want to spend lots of time just lounging around outdoors, taking in the sun. You can also enjoy the charm of the tiny village of Lefkogia or drive to Plakias for an afternoon in the sand. And if anyone in your group decides they need a little more action, this villa in Greece is also within an easy drive of Rethymno, where you can visit historic buildings and museums.

Location Description

This villa is located within walking distance of Lefkogia, a little seaside village with two mini-markets, two tavernas, and a bakery. In the hills there are walking paths which lead through the mountainous natural landscape to various ruins-- a perfect environment for walking, biking, or jogging. A broader range of amenities can be found in Plakias. Sitting 100 meters from the beach, this town features a long strip of beach running around the bay, with areas of both sand and pebbles. There are good spots for snorkeling and, at the far end, for nudists. The atmosphere of the town can be busy at times, and there are plenty of restaurants along with two discos and a number of bars. The town is an excellent base for walking and cycling in the quiet countryside, offering paths at every level of difficulty. You’ll also want to take a day trip to Rethymnon to visit the sixteenth century Venetian Fortezza, imposing in itself but also the location of the annual Rethymnon Renaissance Festival. If you’re interested in the history of the island you may also want to step into the Historical and Folk Art Museum for a taste of traditional Cretan ceramics, textiles, artifacts, jewelry, and clothing from across the centuries.

Exterior Description

Built in 1990 and renovated in 2002, this villa combines traditional Greek style with modern elements. The villa is surrounded by gardens at various level, including trees, bushes, flowers, and roses. A private swimming pool (8m x 6m, 0.35-1.7m deep) includes a shallow children's section and has a terrace with sun lounges. There is also a stone barbecue and parking for two cars.

Interior Description

(120 m2)
Ground Floor: A few steps lead up to the entrance of this villa, where you will find a living area with a fireplace, two sofas, three armchairs, satellite TV, and a stereo system. An arch goes into a kitchen, fully equipped with an electric cook top, toaster, microwave, and a dining table for eight. The kitchen has access to the veranda on the east side of the villa. This level has one bedroom with a 150 cm queen-size bed. A small bathroom next to the living area includes a sink, toilet, and shower with handheld attachment.
First Floor: A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor, where there are two more bedrooms, each with two 100 cm single beds. They share a bathroom with a sink, toilet, and bathtub with handheld showerhead. On this level a door opens onto a large veranda with superb views over the countryside.
