Location Description

This villa is the last house at the edge of Melidoni, a traditional mountainous village with a mini-market, bakery, and one taverna open in the summer. About 3 km from the village you can explore Melidoni Cave, used for cult worship during the Neolithic, Minoan, and Archaic periods. More facilities, such as tavernas, markets, banks, and shops can be found in nearby Perama. Local attractions include the beach at Bali, Margarita (a picturesque village with pottery workshops), and the fishing village of Panormo. Then of course there is the city of Rethymnon, the capital of the province. Here you can find ferry connections to mainland Greece, as well as a unique and picturesque Old Town featuring narrow streets, Venetian palaces, and Turkish minarets. There are countless other sights to see in town, including a Venetian Fortezza (where an annual renaissance festival is held), the harbour, and a fine sandy beach-- the longest in Crete, stretching for several kilometers! You'll also enjoy the local tavernas, cafes, and restaurants. If you’re interested in the history of the island you can step into the Historical and Folk Art Museum for a taste of traditional Cretan ceramics, textiles, artifacts, jewelry, and clothing from across the centuries.

Exterior Description

(5,000 m2) This traditional-style villa is situated in the middle of an orange grove, along with other organic fruits and vegetables that guests are free to sample. The closest neighbor is 60 meters away; otherwise this villa enjoys lovely views of the hills and countryside. The garden around the villa includes a nicely kept lawn and a private swimming pool (50m2, 0.8-2.2m deep), including an adjacent children's pool (12m2, 0.6m deep) for the little ones. There is also a stone dining table for outdoor meals, along with a stone-built barbecue and outdoor fireplace. Parking space is available for three cars.

Interior Description

(220 m2)
Ground Floor: Entering into this villa, you will find yourself in a large, open living area with sofas and a fireplace. Please note that there is a step up from one half of the living area to the other. There are also two steps up through an open arch into the open-plan dining room and kitchen. Here there is a dining table for eight and a fully equipped kitchen with an electric cook-top, dishwasher, coffee machine, microwave, and toaster. Through a corridor there are two bedrooms. The first has two 110 cm single beds. The second bedroom has a 170 cm queen-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and bathtub with handheld showerhead. Both bedrooms have French doors leading into the garden. Another bathroom has a sink, toilet, and shower with handheld attachment.
First Floor: From the living area, an internal marble staircase leads upstairs. Here is a second small sitting area with access to a large veranda looking over the pool and the surrounding countryside. On this floor there are also two more bedrooms. The first bedroom has two 110 cm single beds and access to a veranda. Next to this bedroom is a bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower with handheld attachment. The second bedroom has a 170 cm queen-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and tub with handheld showerhead. From this bedroom a door opens on to a balcony with a lovely view.
