About The Experience
Experience the richness of Spanish life when you rent this Malaga villa, nestled amidst walnut trees in a valley overlooking a national park. Though most holiday villas in Spain's Malaga region are located along the Costa del Sol, this estate sits inland-- offering proximity to the coast without the crowds-- as well as access to the relatively undiscovered "pueblos blancos" of the interior. Every bedroom has its own bath, which means this villa is an excellent choice for any group, whether family or friends.
Location Description
This Malaga villa is located nearest the village of Estacion de Cortes, where you can find a grocery shop and two restaurants. A little further sits Cortes de la Frontera, which has a fine selection of restaurants and shops. A range of fresh local produce, wines and cheeses are available here and should be sampled. Gaucin is approximately a 30 minute drive away, picturesque and tranquil, a typical Andalucian white village and well worth a visit. Similarly, the historic city of Ronda is a 50 minute drive and the beach can be reached in less than an hour from the villa. Hikers and ramblers can indulge themselves in this landscape; the surrounding terrain of the Sierra de Grazalema and the Rio Guadiario provide the ideal walking environment with some simply spectacular scenery to offer. Though the province of Malaga is primarily known for its booming seaside resorts, there are also many less-known areas, particularly inland, which are undiscovered and unspoiled. Just 20 km inland from the Costa del Sol, dramatic coastal landscapes give way to rolling countryside and Moorish hilltop villages, called "pueblos blancos" for their distinctive whitewashed buildings and winding cobbled streets.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
The Villa is a great escape. Set on 200 hectares with a huge walnut grove, you truly get to check out. Fresh cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers, there is a pomegranite tree right next to the house, fig and olive. The grounds are very well cared for and it shows!
Enjoyed Most:
The view of Cortes de La Frontera at night from the patio. My 6 year old liked the pool and donkey the best!
Enjoyed Least:
It's a drive in on dirt road before you hit the main road which then means a drive to anything else...everything is a day trip. Nearby villages are not many miles away but the drive takes time due to the nature of the roads, very twisty and lots of hills up and down.
Surrounding Area:
The views the culture, being in the country where not a lot of English was spoken.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Canada Real de Tesoro, aka the Estation Cortes. Bar Parre great for tapas...not really walkable. Gecko Hotel and Restaurant closed this season...
Tips or Restaurants:
People are super friendly! You definately need to plan your shopping for food. Fantastic red wines from the area add to the atmosphere when sitting on the patio at night!!!! Cueva del Gato for a cool swim on a hot day. Cueva de Pileta. Check the weather on the Coast if you are going to Tarifa, very different weather patterns and high winds.
Directions:
GPS is well worth it! The only problem is the roads in the villages are so small and close that the GPS doesn't recognize them, and you may end up driving in one of the villages when you don't want to! Park on the outside and walk in!

Overall:
We enjoyed the week at the villa. The first impression of the outside is very good indeed. The grounds and the exterior of the property are excellent.
Enjoyed Most:
The outside space and pool area.
Enjoyed Least:
There was a damp smell in the ground floor rooms when we arrived. After we ran the air conditioner for a couple of days, this got better.
Surrounding Area:
Amazing views, and good value at many bars/restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortes de la Frontera. No.
Tips or Restaurants:
The TV is very good and modern; it has a USB port. We were able to use our portable hard drive to watch films, etc. I'd definitely recommend people bring one of those as the villa is quite remote and you'll be spending a lot of time there.
Directions:
We met a contact whom we followed to the property, so directions didn't really apply. The contact met us where we'd arranged and was there in time.

Overall:
Lovely. Beautiful scenery, good accommodations. We were the first people to rent the house in the winter. It must be spectacular in the spring through fall when the flowers are in bloom and the weather is warm enough to use the pool.
Enjoyed Most:
See above. The wonderful owners of the property who have a vacation house nearby. They provided us with their homemade wine, walnuts and fruits, all from their property.
Enjoyed Least:
It was at least a half hour drive on windy, mountainous roads, to the nearest town.
Surrounding Area:
Many beautiful pueblos blancos.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The local area was too small to be called a town or village. It was not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
It is essential to have a cell phone that can be used locally. A GPS is very helpful.
Directions:
Directions were unclear. It would be helpful to use route numbers instead of "Rondo Road". Need cell phone to contact property manager upon arrival.
