About The Experience
Fall in love all over again! Suitable for a small family or a romantic getaway, this rental apartment, while outside of the main tourist traffic, is just a short walk over pathways and bridges to the center of the city. Located on the ground floor of an ancient but completely restored building, this apartment for rent in Venice is perfect for experiencing authentic Venetian life. Explore the city by gondola, vaporetto, or by foot---getting around is easy. This Venetian rental apartment is sure to become your new home away from home.
Location Description
This recently restored apartment is located in the Cannaregio district, near the Tre Archi bridge. Situated a few meters from the Fondamenta di Cannaregio, (the sidewalk on the main canal), it is an easy walk to the Piazza San Marco and other main points of interest in Venice. From this apartment, there are several restaurants, food stores, a post office, shops and a museum within a 5 minute walk. There is a wonderful restaurant, “Trattoria Marisa,” on the Fondamenta of Cannaregio, next to the apartment. A ferry stop is just on the other side of the canal from the Fondamenta di Cannaregio. You’ll want to take your camera with you to Piazza San Marco, famous for string quartets serenading the cafés and pigeons. At the center of the Piazza is St. Mark’s Basilica, adorned with rare marbles and semiprecious stones. While in Cannaregio, visit the Ca’d’Oro and its museum, Palazzo Labia, San Geremia Square and San Geremia Church, and the Church of Santa Maria di Nazareth o dei Carmelitani Scalzi. Within a 10 minute walk or 10 minute ferry ride (line 51), one can reach the Santa Lucia train station. Venice is one of the oldest cities in Europe, with a unique layout and building style. Due to the aging of some of the buildings, as well as the infrastructure of the city, you may experience low water pressure and electricity outages, especially during the summer months.

    Customer Reviews

    Overall:
    Very good.
    Enjoyed Most:
The neighborhood, which is away from the hectic scene.
    Enjoyed Least:
Would have liked to have WiFi.
    Directions:
    Used Google Maps.
    Check In Out:
Franco couldn't speak English, but it wasn't a problem.

    Barbara , September, 2011

    Overall:
We loved Venice because of the boat taxis and the water. It was about 10 degrees cooler in Venice than it was in Rome and Tuscany, which we really enjoyed. Our location was great with a private and secure courtyard. Our villa was the largest one of the 3 we stayed in while in Italy.
    Enjoyed Most:
Large with 2 full bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, plus a large living room and dining room and kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the place was clean.
    Enjoyed Least:
Our key holder, Franco, did not speak a word of English and the phone number we were given was answered by someone who only spoke Italian so we were unable to communicate with the key holder. Finally we were able to contact the Property Manager, who reached Franco.
    Surrounding Area:
Safety, closeness to the water taxis.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
San Marco Square was a bit of a hike, and we wanted to see the city so we walked. The water taxi was about 30 min. ride to the square.
    Tips or Restaurants:
This place was fully furnished. Again, buy groceries before you arrive at your destination in case the stores close.
    Directions:
We arrived by car, not by train and our directions were from the train station. Have a good map of the city before you arrive, so that you can navigate your way around and ask for directions. Remember that there are occasional train, bus and taxi strikes so be prepared to do some walking if that happens, and it did happen to us.

    Susan, July, 2010

    Overall:
Pretty good place to crash. A little run-down in spots, a little off the beaten track.
    Enjoyed Most:
Sufficiently roomy for 4 people, keyholder was a good guy, in a courtyard and quiet, sort of a nice neighborhood.
    Enjoyed Least:
Teeny tiny kitchen, and to get to popular spots in Venice takes a lot of walking. We found a Vaporetto 3-day pass. While expensive, was well worth it. Also, some parts of the plaster was deteriorating, especially in the bathrooms. The shower was extremely tiny.
    Surrounding Area:
A nice neighborhood, decent Chinese restaurant down the street and not too far from the Jewish Ghetto area.
    Check In Out:
Keyholder easy to deal with. 500 Euro cash deposit is excessive, we left with a big wad of Euros.
