About The Experience
Gorgeous panoramic views, a private swimming pool, and elegant furnishings are only three reasons why three couples should rent this villa in the Italian region of Veneto. Situated on three different levels, there is enough room for everyone to each enjoy a sense of privacy and tranquility, especially since each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. A beautiful outdoor setting with resort-style chairs and sun loungers will surely win you and your group over when you're not out visiting the nearby towns of Venice or Verona while staying at this self-catering accommodation.
Location Description

This villa is located one kilometer east from the center of the village of Asolo where there are local artisan shops, boutiques, restaurants, and markets. Dating back to pre-Roman times, Asolo has had many famous people as residents, including the English poet Robert Browning. At the end of the 1400's, it was home and prison to the Queen of Cyprus, Caterina Cornaro, who now has a castle named after her that is open to the public. Other notable sites include the Cathedral, which was built in 1747, and the City Museum. Asolso is also a great place to take peaceful walks to enjoy the scenery. During the summer months, there are live concerts and music festivals. The medieval town of Treviso is about a 20-minute drive from the property and it's a definite place to visit due to its charm. While canals, squares, and frescoed houses line the streets, there are designer stores, art galleries, ancient churches, and wine tasting opportunities. Other possible day trips include Padova, Venice, and Verona.

Nearby Attractions: Asolo (shops, restaurants markets, castle, cathedral, museums, summer concerts), Treviso (art galleries, shops, churches, wine tasting, frescoed houses, canals), Padova, Venice, Verona.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Definitely excellent. It was much more than what we expected and we expected a lot! This was a family trip (all of us coming from different destinations) and all six of us were immediately taken in by the experience. The villa, views, gardens, surroundings and staff were fantastic. After a long day of traveling from our different destinations, it was a luxury to sit down that first night to a delicious dinner left for us by the wonderful staff. Also, they had bought us a few staples to get us started until we could make it to the store. After that first night's experience, we knew that the rest of our time there would be a happy one.
Enjoyed Most:
The location of the villa took our breath away. I never imagined that it would be on a hilltop with spectacular views from every single room in the house...what a treat. The villa was a wonderful combination of modern world comfort with the Old World ambiance. We started our days with breakfast out on the deck watching Asolo come to life and after a heavy day of sightseeing we ended them at night sitting by the pool enjoying Asolo's lights.
Enjoyed Least:
That we could not stay longer!!! I know that some people might find the road to access the house a bit intimidating, but we didn't find it to be a problem.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area was just as picturesque as the villa itself. We used the villa as our base and traveled to various towns, cities and the Dolomites. Honestly, the distances to many of these places were not too long.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town was Asolo. It was within walking distance (about 20 min.) and the trail is beautiful, but it is very steep and I would not recommend it for people who have trouble getting around. However, driving to town takes just 5 minutes and there is parking which you pay for during certain hours and is free in the evening. It was never a problem. The town of Asolo itself is a dream and we enjoyed discovering all of its corners.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring what makes you comfortable. Definitely read and take to heart the suggestions that are given by the owner in the instructions book. The restaurant suggestions are right on the money. We enjoyed sitting in the Cafe Central people watching while some of us drank Prosecco and others ate the wonderful gelato desserts. Everywhere we went, we were treated extremely well.
Directions:
We did use the GPS by setting the coordinates given to us by the owner prior to our arrival. Nevertheless, it was helpful to have our first meeting with the keyholder at Cafe Central and have her guide us the first time to the property.
Check In Out:
The check in process with Francesca went very smoothly. She explained everything clearly, therefore, we received no surprises at the checkout. It was all a very easy process.

Overall:
We enjoyed the property, which we shared with another couple. The set-up of the bedrooms and baths was excellent for privacy.
Enjoyed Most:
The outdoor deck with pool looking out over the valley was lovely. The evening sunsets and moonrise were spectacular.
Enjoyed Least:
The walk into town is a rather strenuous trek up and down the slope. The narrow road leading into the property requires a confident and competent driver. Fortunately, my partner and I have driven extensively in Italy and other countries. The kitchen is extremely well equipped but the knives would not cut soft butter!
Surrounding Area:
We used La Tempesta as a base to explore the Veneto and Dolomites. We enjoyed being able to visit many lovely towns and indulge my special passion--villas designed by Palladio. Follow the Prosecco Road and, if you are daring, drive the hairpin road through the Dolomites.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Asolo. It was not really within walking distance, as I described above. There is limited parking in the village and we would have preferred to be able to walk from La Tempesta. We learned to stop at any market we found open as we traveled. There is a small green grocer and a deli that are very good in the village but with limited items and hours.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you bring any personal needs. Toilet tissue is not supplied. We often had a nice lunch in towns we were visiting and then planned on making a light supper at the villa. Bistrot in Asolo was a good find. Renters should know ahead of time that the village is closed to traffic on Sundays as are the food stores so if you arrive, as we did, late afternoon on Saturday do not plan on getting supplies until Monday. There was a meal prepared for us for Saturday night which was very welcome.
Directions:
A GPS is absolutely necessary in this area.

Overall:
Excellent. This is the nicest villa we have rented, and we have been renting for over 20 years.
Enjoyed Most:
It is completely and beautifully equipped, with everything just as the owner claims. But, the really remarkable thing is the view. If you know Asolo, at the top of the hill above it is the Rocca fortress. People climb the steep trail just to see the Veneto from above. But, just East of this is another hill and the highest house on this one is Villa Tempesta the advantage is that you can drive to to this private view and see it by standing up in the swimming pool.
Enjoyed Least:
It is in fact, a 25 minute walk to the center of Asolo, Caffe Centro, no matter which way you go. But, that is the price of a view from above and serenity and privacy. Plus, we found plenty of parking in the village which is free after 7 pm.
Surrounding Area:
Lots of small towns to visit, each with a few spots that make the guide books. Very green and flat, except for the hilltop places like Asolo.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Only Asolo is in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
There are 3 very good restaurants in Asolo, all in the book the owner leaves in the house. The greeter, the maid, was polite and punctual. Bring suntan oil.
Directions:
Check just before going to get the name of the greeter and local mobile phone confirmed. In our case, it changed twice beginning Wednesday for a Saturday arrival.
