Wherever you choose to go when you step outside of your Amalfi Coast holiday accommodation, the scent of lemon trees will follow -- except perhaps the beach, where you'll enjoy cool ocean breezes as you bask in the sun.

Elegant and aristocratic, the town of Ravello sits high above the water, atop a rocky spur on the Amalfi Coast. Magnificent palazzos, churches, and gardens reflect the town's rich history, which is complemented by a modern, active cultural life. The apartment is near the center of Ravello by the town square; its location is convenient with or without a car. From the nearby city of Amalfi, hydrofoils leave for Positano, Capri and Sorrento. Blue SITA busses cost about 1-2 euros, depending on destination. Stops are marked with a blue and white SITA sign. The small internal bus (orange mini-bus) of Positano is marked by a brown FERMATA sign. Driving times are: Ravello to Amalfi, 15 minutes; Amalfi to Positano, 30 minutes; Positano to Sorrento, 35 minutes.

From a parking lot in Ravello, there is a four minute walk to the property through the small town center. There are approximately 60 steps to the property's entrance. The apartment is located on the top floor of the owners' private residence, a secluded villa surrounded by three levels of developed, well kept gardens and lawns. The property offers a lovely view of the terraced hillsides of the Amalfi Coast and the Coast of Cilento. An elegantly furnished, private terrace provides a relaxing spot where guests can enjoy the splendid view and the Wagner concerts played at dusk at Villa Rufolo, an historic villa located not far from the property. There are additional apartments for rent in the villa; all the apartments share a clean, well equipped pool area on a main terrace two levels below this apartment.

(60 m2 + private terrace): This stylish apartment is decorated with a mix of antiques and modern furniture. The living room has an open fire place and French doors that lead to a private terrace with a table for two and built-in seating. There is also a small, well equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom (with shower), a study with a beautiful antique desk, and a bedroom with a small double bed and a view of the countryside and the sea.

Available Amenities:
Shared swimming pool (18m x 9m; 3m maximum depth; open May 6th – October 28th), central heating, stove, oven, small fridge with freezer, microwave, kettle, portable fan, hairdryer, television (Italian channels only, no satellite), maid service (two hours, midweek; change of linen on Saturdays). There is a laundry room with a washing machine and ironing facilities, which are for use by the maid. There is an English speaking manager on call.
Extra Services:
Extra hours of maid service are available (must be requested at the time of booking), and payment is local (€10 per hour). Laundry service is also available. Parking spaces must be requested at the time of booking, and payment is local (€18 per day).
Nearby Attractions:
Three or four concerts per week take place in Ravello from March until November.
Please Note:
If you elect to use public transport, be prepared to pay a hefty taxi ride fee ($25) to reach the port of Amalfi, which is six kilometers away.

Enjoyed Most:
The view is amazing. The peace and quiet, the sweet smell of the lemon trees, the private patio and all the beautiful grounds covered with flowers.
Surrounding Area:
Ravello is fabulous if you are looking for a quiet, semi-remote location. We have never been so relaxed. The local restaurants and cafes have some of the best food I have ever eaten.
Tips or Restaurants:
We spent most of our time in the Piazza enjoying the cafes.
Directions:
The coastal roads along the cliffs are insane to drive, but beautiful.

Enjoyed Most:
The pool, the warm sunshine and cool breezes, the comfortable bed, the panoramic views.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Having to purchase toilet paper and dish detergent, not having a rack to dry suits and towels and clothes that we had to wash, and the 45 Euro charge for mid-week maid service.
Surrounding Area:
The hikes, the restaurants, the churches, the concert festival.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Atrani, Scala, Minori - all are within walking distance, but beware of the available maps - they are not drawn to scale!
Tips or Restaurants:
Provisions are minimal 1 or 2 rolls of toilet paper, olive oil and vinegar , and a hand-full of matches were provided.
No salt, pepper, sugar, soap, wash cloths, or bread knife were provided. It was not a problem for us, but potential renters should be aware of the number of steps that must be climbed and descended between the street and the apartment.<

There were many small towns nearby. Each morning we would hike down to one of them and then take a taxi back up to Ravello. Lovely.
