Overall:
The location allows you to be as active and engaged as you want to be, yet at the same time the house is comfortable enough to just sit and rest for a while. The view in the back is beyond description...no camera can do it justice.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the views from the backyard. The location was perfect for day trips and great places to eat in small villages.
Unpleasant Surprises:
A bit too many knick-knacks. They added to the experience, but you had to be careful where you set things down so as to not disturb the owner's things.
Surrounding Area:
Country lanes, small villages, very interesting places to see and experience. The vineyards and olive tree orchards were very interesting. The people were very nice and helpful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest towns were within about 2 miles, 4-5 kilometers away. Barberino and Tavernelle were nearby. Barberino has a nice little grocery store on the main road and a larger one between it and Tavernelle, which we couldn't find.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring wash cloths for the face. Barberino is the nearest town and it has a couple of nice restaurants and so does Tavarnelle.
Check In Out:
The owner, Maria does have some English, and it helps make for a very smooth and friendly check-in process.

Enjoyed Most:
The peace and quiet, and almost seclusion. The view was so picturesque, I had to laugh when I got home at the number of photos I had taken of the same view!
Unpleasant Surprises:
The kitchen was adequate for modest meal preparation, but it would have been difficult to fix a complicated meal. The outdoor view was so spectacular, I would have liked more comfortable outdoor dining furniture so we could enjoy the ambience while dining.
Surrounding Area:
The medieval villages, the non-congestion.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There was really no town within walking distance. There was a lovely trattoria across the street. It was expensive and needed advance reservations....however, it was a magnificent treat! The nearest small town was Barberino Val D'Elsa about a 10-in drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Trattoria Campanelli, directly across the road was lovely, with tremendous food and ambience to be remembered. It was not inexpensive and you really did need advance reservations. The food at La Botteghina Da Wilma was quite good, informal and a good local choice.

Overall: Really would have rated it 4.5! Enjoyed Most: View was outstanding! Location was perfect for our day trips. Bucolic area - so serene and relaxing! Garden was wonderful and different floors were private for guests. Unpleasant Surprises: No heat for rainy, chilly days. Kitchen had no work space for food preparation. Bees and bugs were a problem without screens. Lighting was poor throughout, especially living room. Surrounding Area: The surrounding small towns around were fun to explore as well. Nearby Events or Locales: Alto Certaldo walled city. Good restaurants were scattered around through the little villages. Il Paese Dei Campanelli was superb and right across the road! Tips or Restaurants: Learn to speak a little Italian so you can speak with owners - wonderful people!
Borgo Antico in Tavarnelle is fun as well as good. Owned by local family whose daughter calls everyone "darling!"
In San D'onato Locando de Petreacuppa.
