Not much can compare to this farmhouse accommodation near Florence in Tuscany, Italy. That's because it's hard to beat gorgeous views of the Chianti countryside combined with a house surrounded by flowers, stone paths, and greenery. Add to that a pool and a small playground and you have the perfect farm holiday in Tuscany. You won't want to stay home all the time, however, and you have plenty of reasons not to, including many lively hill towns and easy access to Florence.

In a huge property (abt. 400 ha) 5 ancient farmhouses, a manor house and a very small parish church have been recently restored. The house is situated along the Sieve valley, in the area known as the Mugello and which poets have defined as a wonderland because of its continuous and lively hilly towns (Vicchio, Scarperia, Borgo San Lorenzo), its villas (Villa Cafaggiolo) and its castles (Castello del Trebbio). Peaceful position. The houses have been built one behind the other and are about 50/100 m apart. They overlook an extensive and beautiful valley with a pretty lake down below. 8 apartments have been obtained in addition to the manor house which itself has been transformed into a holiday home. Our proposal regards 6 of the apartments: Valletta 1 is to be found in a separate farmhouse and Valletta 2 and 3 in another farmhouse. Valletta 4 and 5 are in still another farmhouse, Valletta 6 is located in a former barn transformed into a little holiday home. To the back, on a grassy terracing is a beautiful swimming pool (14x7)(1/5-15/10) from where you can enjoy a suberb panoramic view. In an area near the swimming pool: slide, swing and other miniture games for young children. Table-tennis and characteristic barbecue that are shared. Behind the swimming pool there is a large wood that is ideal for relaxing walks. Upon request, you can hire a jeep with driver (6 people) for exursions on the property. You can also rent (during daylight hours only) a small wooden house (with dining room with fireplace and kitchen corner) in the woods located about 2 km away, for 26 Euro per day. Fishing rods (lake on the property about 1 km away) and mountain bikes (3 Euro per hour or Euro 8 per half-day) are also available. It is possible to purchase products from the farm (wine, oil), to visit the farm s cellars with wine tasting, to send faxes and e-mail from the offices in the farm.Parking. Simple furniture. Central heating. Baby-beds available (Euro 15/week/each).

ACCOMMODATION: (120 m2) Gr. fl.: living/dining room (TV) with kitchen worktop area (freezer), fireplace, double sofa bed and access onto a private lawn and onto a covered and equipped terrace. 1st fl.: 2 twin bedded rooms, 1 double bedroom, WC (wash-basin, bidet), 1 bathroom with shower.
LOCATION: 2.5 km Dicomano (various shops and train station with an almost hourly service to Florence), 38 km Florence.

Overall:
Great spot, but needs a general clean up.
Enjoyed Most:
The serenity and the views.
Unpleasant Surprises:
A car is a must. 40minute walk uphill from nearest town. Needs insect screens. Hot water system needs fixing.
Surrounding Area:
The countryside was fabulous and it was easy to go to Siena Florence and Venice
Nearby Events or Locales:
Dicomano. 30 min down and 40 min back by foot. Very steep
Tips or Restaurants:
There are no spices, sauces, etc. in the kitchen.
Directions:
We went by train and it was difficult to get a taxi from the Station. The owner could have easily come down and picked us up. A car is a must and it is an easy drive from Florence.

Overall:
Generally, we 4 adults and 4 kids had a wonderful time. Had a chance to relax and wind down after two weeks of touring Italy. Nice way to finish our holiday. Also, the few other renters we met were quite pleasant people, mostly from Europe.
Enjoyed Most:
Lovely view of the valley, vineyards, beautiful sunsets. Good size pool. Very close to a train station in the nearby small town, 5-minute drive. The kids enjoyed the game room.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Insects. Also pool needed to have regular chemical maintenance.
Surrounding Area:
Pleasant short hikes. Nice to stroll through vineyards. Had a tour of wine-making facilities which was informative.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Closest town was Dicomano. Not really realistic to walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Future renters need to bring all basic amenities for the kitchen. There was no salt and pepper, no food of any kind, no paper towels, no hand soap, no shampoo. Minimal toilet paper. Towels provided but no face cloths. Bring some sort of device for music! Cooked our own food as opposed to eating at restaurants.
Check In Out:
Personel are only available from 9 to noon on weekends. If you have to leave before this time need to arrange to pick up damage deposit day before.

Overall:
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tranquility.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular! Peace and quiet all day and night. The bathrooms were nice and clean.
Unpleasant Surprises:
We can't think of anything, it was great!
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful scenery and Dicomano was nearby for dinner, groceries and train service to Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Dicomano was just down the hill, but don't try to walk it, as the property is at the top of a hill.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely rent a car and buy some of the delicious olive oil that they make.
