Enjoyed Most:
View, Location, Owners
Unpleasant Surprises:
Street Noise; Location of Family residence next to apartment.
Surrounding Area:
Everything
Directions:
Had a car pick us up
June, 2006
Overall:
We would return in a heartbeat.
Enjoyed Most:
The town was charming, and the view from the terrace was absolutely amazing. The owners were very helpful and friendly, and obviously took great pride in both their property and their town.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There really wasn't anything we didn't like. People have commented on the steps going down to the beach, but that is Positano - no way around it. The steps just let us eat guilt-free.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is an absolutely charming town that has a great location enabling us to see Paestum, Pompeii, Capri - aside from the nearby towns. The people in Positano were very kind and welcoming.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We took the bus to Sorrento, but actually hired a car to tour us around the Amalfi coast - well worth it.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be ready to eat good food - the steps will burn it off! Be sure to bring comfortable shoes. Although you can take the local bus around Positano, walking is much more fun, and the shops are fun to go through.

Enjoyed Most:
Terrific location, grocery store across the street. convenient to town and easy to get home by bus. Loved the ability to rent adjacent unit so that our group of 7 could be close together and share the terrace and clothes line. Wonderful, friendlyand hospitable owners. Artistic decorating touches, such as son's artwork and hand-painted tiles. Plenty of storage space. Reasonably priced and great alternative to the expensive hotels.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Second bedroom is a very small interior room with no outside doors or windows and is hot and stuffy.
Surrounding Area:
Water at beaches is unbelievably warm and clear for swimming. Shops in Positano all have unique one-of-a kind items, particularly women's boutiques, and they're reasonably priced even with weak exchange rate. There's a huge selection of restaurants in all price ranges, and food was excellent. House is a good base for exploring Ravello, Amalfi, Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii although a shame to waste a precious day in Positano for very long.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Bring comfortable shoes. For 1 euro you can take the Interno Positano bus into town long way around though, because road is on-way, or home, which is really nice after dinner. We enjoyed stopping at all the shops when we walked into town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring area bug spray for terrace in the evening. We never used air conditioning and were not bothered by mosquitoes if we closed all doors and windows before dusk and reopened them after dark. Put washing machine on D setting for shortest 45 min cycle, and wait 2 min when done before opening door. If you take the bus to another town, you have to buy ticket at the tobacco shop in center of town, then walk up the hill to the bus stop on the Amalfi Drive. It's not the bus stop in front of the tobacco shop. Do stretching exercises after each day so you won't be sore after climbing all of the hills and steps. There's no need for a car, driving is treacherous and there is no place to park. If you bring a car, get collision insurance----we returned the cars with lots of dents and scrapes because of tight locations and we've never had this problem at home. Need to reserve high-speed ferry in advance at ticket kiosk near the ferry dock e.g., to go to Capri.

Overall:
This place might seem expensive, but it is worth it. We enjoyed our stay here so much. We definitely plan to come back to Positano.
Enjoyed Most:
This was an amazing place. The view alone was unbelievable! To sit out on the patio at sunset, drinking wine and talking with one another....fabulous. Extremely relaxing. The owners, who live on the property, were very friendly and helpful. We just had the best time here.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The air conditioning was not what I had thought. We were in Italy during a heat wave, and our villa had one wall unit. If we had not opened the transom window in the main bedroom, the other bedroom would have had no air movement at all, since there are no windows in that room. The living room needed some updating as well.
Surrounding Area:
So much! The area is just magical. The grocery store across the street was wonderful. They were so helpful and fun to visit with 4 times a day! We rented a boat 3 times that week down at the beach. The shops were fun to visit. The beach was very different from what we were used to, but still great. We just had a great time here.
Tips or Restaurants:
They are not kidding about the steps. It was about 500 down to the beach! We were in fairly good shape when we got there, and better shape when we left. I don't think any of us gained weight here! There is no way around those steps. You cut down by taking the road, but at some point you hit steps again. Many restaurants offer free car service to and from their restaurant. Our favorite was Ristorante da Costantino which is higher up on the cliff. 12 of us stuffed ourselves silly for about 200 euro, which also included wine, beer, soda and water. The view is unbelievable from this restaurant, so get there before sunset and stay for a long time!

Overall:
It truly was enjoyable. We will stay at this Villa again, if possible, for maybe a couple of weeks. We really like Ravello. They have beautiful Villas, also.
Enjoyed Most:
The garden. It is a garderner's wonderland. The green ferns, the flowers, the basil and eggplants, was just so splendid. Unbelievable to maintain such a beautiful Villa. I think the Vegitation truly adds flavor to this Villa.
Unpleasant Surprises:
There is not a thing we didn't like at the Villa. The steps on a hot day.
Surrounding Area:
The people at the Villa. They were so accommodating. Feeding us, brining us wine and cakes, etc. Even in the town. The town people at the market were remarkably nice. We didn't eat out that often. We went to a cooking class that we enjoyed a lot - so much that we went back to eat there at night and got to know the owner pretty well.
Tips or Restaurants:
The resturant we enjoyed and also provides cooking classes, if made in advance is Max's. There food is really good. Also, Constantine's Family style was good.
The list you gave was just perfect. I felt I didn't miss a thing. We even brought a small plastic cutting board with us, which we left behind for the next renter. It really was the most important tool for us. If we could make it through the Airport we would have brought a decent professional cutting knife.
Directions:
Yes, using Positano Car Service working with Joseph and Aldo and Luigi was the best.

Enjoyed Most:
We loved the terrace and the sunrises and sunsets every day.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Having to go up the steps made us think twice about going into town. Also, the people staying in the next apartment sat outside our bedroom and talked nonstop for hours. It was as it they were in our bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
The food, the people, and the energy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was down the steps.
Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants along the beach in Positano had excellent food.
October, 2003
Overall: Owner very friendly and helpful, particularly in climbing the 75 steps to the apartment Enjoyed Most: View of city and location to center. Unpleasant Surprises: No parking available and an additional $20/day to have them store the car. Surrounding Area: Vistas not comparable to those in the US. Old architectural styles. Tips or Restaurants: Bring your walking shoes and be prepared to climb a lot of steps
