This Provencal apartment is located in the center of Avignon occupying the fifth and sixth floor of a historic building. In Avignon, you will find a charming walled French town with history, restaurants, museums, shops and a vibrant local scene. There is so much to see: the Place de l'Horloge, the outdoor market in Uzes on Saturday, the Pont du Gard, the antique markets in Isle sure la Sorgue on Sunday, Mount Ventoux, the vineyards, the Festival d'Avignon in July, and Fountaine de Vaucluse. Suitable for a daytrip, the city of Arles has a large two-tiered Amphitheatre that originally provided entertainment in the form of chariot races and gladiatorial combat. Today it is used for bullfighting (during feria pascale), plays and concerts. On Saturdays there is a large market, one of the largest in Provence, where you can purchase textiles, pottery, art, and local goods. Arles is the gateway to the Camargue, one of the nicest natural sites en Europe with an exceptionally rich plant and animal life.

Overall:
It was clean and modern. A cleaning lady came twice while we were there.
Enjoyed Most:
The location. Walking distance to all shops, restaurants. The July festival.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Heat wave which wasn't the owner's fault. The kitchen and living room were not air conditioned. It cooled off by evening.
Surrounding Area:
Brassieres, people, markets, shops etc. Local color.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We love St. Remy. Had to drive but worth the scenery in between.
Tips or Restaurants:
I brought my knitting, a DVD player and books to read. The apartment was enjoyable and cozy for quiet activities. The Jacuzzi was good, too.
Directions:
There is a lack of street signs and the ones that are there are covered with cardboard advertisements.
Check In Out:
The owner was most helpful with the luggage.
