Located on one of the Antinori estates in the Chianti Classico area, this is a beautifully renovated and restored stone hamlet with breathtaking views of vineyards and rolling hills. The hamlet is located midway between Florence and Siena, 8 km from Greve, and close to the small town of Montefiridolfi (1 km, basic shops). The town of Mercatale Val di Pesa is about 10 minutes away. The exit from the Superstrada is Tavernelle Val di Pesa. The estate consists of the main complex comprised of 17 apartments (Bianco apartments), reception desk, and pool area with taverna, and one farmhouse (Rosso apartments) housing seven beautiful apartments on the hillside. Access to the Rosso farmhouse is via about 2 km of a steep, unpaved road (common in the Chianti region). The apartments share a swimming pool (open May – end of October). Guests staying in the Rosso apartments can drive down the unpaved road to the pool, or, prepare for a long walk downhil (and uphill to return!). In addition, there is a gym, Turkish bath and sauna, and tennis court located at the main complex.

Enjoyed Most: The apartment was nice and comfortable. The location was excellent and we enjoyed the quietness. Unpleasant Surprises: We believed that the private gazebo was some kind of terrasse. But only some of the apartments had a terrasse where the guests could enjoy having a drink and meals. Ours was not easily accessible. I understood that cleaning of the apartment would be done everyday; but only the beds where made. Linens were changed on Thursday as opposed to Wednesday. The satellite TV was not working when we arrived and it took 2 days to fix it. The kitchen was nice but missing some appliances; a coffee maker (we bought one and left it in the apartment) and a corkscrew would have been appreciated. Also, the dinner we had the first day at the Trattoria was expensive and only fair in quality. However breakfasts were OK. Surrounding Area: We enjoyed the quietness and the panoramic views. Tips or Restaurants: Toppa in S. Donato in Chianti and the restaurant at Badia A Coltibuono near Radda.

Overall: An outdoor seating/dining area for our unit would have been nice. Enjoyed Most: The view! The staff, the surrounding areas. Unpleasant Surprises: Lack of pool towels! Power out due to storms frequently, no outdoor area for this apartment. It would be helpful to know what kitchen equipment is provided-I would have brought more. Surrounding Area: Great proximity to Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, etc. as well as local small towns-great location. Nearby Events or Locales: We enjoyed San Gimignano, driving around the small towns, and Florence.

Overall: Wow. A fabulous location AND a beautiful, beautiful accomodation.
Everything was done with the highest quality...incredible. Enjoyed Most: Everything was good down to the details - screens on the windows and cleaned meticulously. Staple foods were provided and replenished so we were never totally empty shelfed. Unpleasant Surprises: They were doing some work in the area...so there was some noise in the a.m. - earlier than I would have liked. Probably a very temporary situation. Surrounding Area: It was remote without being inaccessible. The pool and facilities were nice. The nearby towns were not places you would have heard of, so we saw more of Italian life (as opposed to tourist life). Yet, it was a nearby drive to Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, etc.
